Love this!
Love this thing, the touch is pretty quick, it connects 90% of the time by its self, thereโs been a few times I have to go into my phone settings and connect it. If youโre connected to home wifi sitting in your driveway you canโt use that wifi. Only the wifi for the CarPlay.

Bricked Unit After Update Attempt
I bought this Capapro 7" Portable CarPlay screen a short time ago because of the good initial reviews and the claim of "reliable technical support." I followed the built-in online upgrade process exactly as instructed and used the official IVT244.img file provided by the device's own QR code. After the update completed, the screen is now completely unusable: it shows only a solid blue background with a thick horizontal line and visible scan lines. The backlight works, but there is no menu, no touch response, and no way to access CarPlay or settings. I tried: Extended power drains and resets (unplugged for 30+ minutes multiple times) USB recovery attempts with the same firmware file Checking for the device's Wi-Fi hotspot (none appears) When I opened the unit to investigate further, the board is an Allwinner F133-B with PCB revision F18_V5.0_20250221 and shield marking JL-M70B013-N22WS-T503518. There is no physical reset button! They removed it, as though it's a cost saving measure! I have been unable to contact the seller for the correct matching recovery firmware. There is no "Contact Seller" button visible on the product page or my order, and no direct support email or phone is provided despite the product description promising reliable technical support. This unit is now a $43 paperweight after following official instructions. I would like the seller to provide the proper variant-specific firmware or arrange a replacement. Photos of the failed screen and motherboard are available if needed. If you're considering this unit, be aware that the firmware update process can brick it and support appears very limited.

Happy Purchase
originally bought this to install in my SUV, but it ended up being the perfect addition to our golf cart instead! Itโs compact, has a bright, easy-to-read touchscreen, and works great with Apple devices. It was simple to set up and does exactly what I needed. Iโm very happy with this purchase.

Definitely worth more in todayโs standards
So, i love this CarPlay screen. When I bought it I expected it to barely work. But itโs pretty seamless, the window mount especially is really good, the joints could be a little refined and the joint screws too, but once they are tight they hold. The only issues Iโm finding with this product is in the day time the screen is really reflective and I can barely see it, Iโm going to see if I can get a non reflective film to put on the screen to help with that, the sd card port is a little funky, but it works. The screen mirroring is something I was looking forward to but unfortunately no matter how hard I try I canโt get it to work. But itโs not a big deal because to me the overall functionality and smoothness of the unit overall is really good. The back up cam was about as I expected. Functional, but donโt expect 1080. Expect just enough to back into a spot. You can also have the cam activated while your driving forward kinda like a rear view mirror which is something I really like. I specifically use it when Iโm considering brake checking someone ๐คญ

Good for the price, be sure to push screen down on the bracket
Good quality, time and date will reset every time you shut your car off. Will re-sync upon connection. Havenโt installed backup camera yet, might not, but the quality on it is good for the price I paid for it, bracket is durable, easy to use. Wouldnโt recommend using the sticky mount if you live in an area with high heat. To mount it you have to press firmly down on the screen and bracket

Good for cheap backup camera but not impressed otherwise...
I bought this primarily because the backup camera on my daughter's old junker car went out. This seemed to be the cheapest option to replace it. Pros: It was easy to install the main unit. Just plug it in and turn it on. And the backup camera works reasonably well. For that alone, I am happy that I purchased this. I also keep it on a GPS map any time I'm not in reverse, which is handy. Cons-1: Installation of the backup camera was fairly time consuming. Even with having the necessary tools and know-how to install it, it still took me close to an hour -- and that wasn't tucking all the wires in and making it super neat. You do need to have some a basic non-contact voltage meter, or some other testing probe to determine what is the proper wire going to your reverse lights is. Then you have to be comfortable with actually tapping into that wire to power the backup camera. Definitely not a quick and easy installation if you aren't comfortable working with wiring and don't have some way to test the wires. Cons-2: As far as the main unit, while getting it to connect to your Android phone with Bluetooth is fairly straight forward, getting it to fully mirror your phone is a pain. You have to download an app on your phone and then set up a mobile hotspot on your phone. My anti-virus was popping up all sorts of warning messages about how dangerous this was. I finally decided I didn't need full mirroring for what I needed the unit for. Also, you can't have your VPN connected on your phone, or the Bluetooth will not connect, and you will get an error code on your phone. I do like the backup camera. It works reasonably well and does the job. I doubt you are going to find a much cheaper option. But don't expect this to be like a high-end unit for any other purpose.

Loving it, so far!
I've used it for about a week now...... I like it a lot..... Somehow it automatically starts when I start up my car. It keeps a list of places I've been, so I can choose one when I'm ready to go. Its got a larger screen, so that's a definite plus. It can stay in my car. I've bluetoothed it to my phone. I can use Maps or Waze. I think I can use whatever I can see on my phone.... I hv a few different navigation apps.... havn't tried them all yet. It takes about a minute to connect when I turn on my car. It doesn't seem to be using my phone but I know it does somehow. Probably for data service.... Right now, I'm happy! I've tried quite a few different ways to view GPS while driving [different car phone holders (they kept falling off or not being in a convenient spot), portable HUD displays (then hvng to find an app that displays navigation backwards..... could not use Waze or Maps ๐ซ)]. This is using apps from my phone, showing them as it would on my phone! I'm still playing w/it cuz right now it uses the stereo speakers in the unit. It's okay for now but I think I want to see if I can use my car speakers instead.... As stated: I'm still playing w/it... But, so far, so good! ๐ Thanks, Capapro!

affordable carplay for your older vehicle - you get what you pay for
This is an affordable option for equipping your older model car with Carplay or Android Auto. I have an iPhone and I had zero issues setting this up and pairing it to my phone and my car. I was not able to make the FM radio connection work but I think I just needed to find a better channel to tune. I don't intend to use that connection method anyway so I didn't work at it very long. The bluetooth/WiFi connection worked smoothly. There were zero issues in setting it up, and it seems to have a sensitive touchscreen without any particular lag that I could see. There are several options for displaying information. I have not yet decided on how to mount it (windshield or dash). Other reviews complain about the adhesive not being very good, but I have not tried it yet. Thinking about using an alternative mechanical mount that doesn't require adhesive, but I have not locked that in yet. Overall, for the price I have no problems - it works as advertised and I expect to use it well. It comes with a backup camera, which I don't need but which I may try to adapt as a dashcam - not sure that will actually work. A 3.5mm aux cable is supplied for an alternative audio connection, but I could not get it to work. It powers through a connection to what used to be a cigarette lighter but which is normally just a power plug now. One thing that was irksome was that the power cable is not detachable from the plug. I have a plug with two USB ports and I plan to use one to power the unit and the other to power the phone charger. But I will just have to supply an alternate cable with USB-A on one end and USB-C on the other. Otherwise I have no complaints, and I think for the price this is an easy and affordable way get Carplay or Android Auto into your older vehicle. NOTE: as others have pointed out the mounting system they supply with the product is an absolute disaster. The adhesive is weak. In particular, the dash mount hardware requires an absolutely flat surface on which to mount. Few dashes are actually flat and any curvature of the mounting surface will prevent the base from mounting well to the dash. I am searching for an alternative way to mount the unit.
