After about two days the fruit softens so it is actually better than when it first arrives but several of the pears had rotten spots in them. We cut the bad parts away and the rest was ok. We both wear partial dentures and so it is difficult to bite into hard fruit. But as I said wait about 2 days and it softens up and then the fruit is juicy. It isn't as pretty as the photo shows so don't expect beautiful perfectly colored and ripe looking fruit.
