The primary purpose behind the frequent change in motor oil is that it gradually becomes contaminated with carbon residue that it washes off of your internal engine components. Carbon is the hardest substance known to man. If carbon is allowed to cycle through the engine it causes a wet sanding effect that grinds away at every surface it touches that is subject to the friction of moving components, which negates and contradicts the purpose of lubrication. Carbon is identified by its distinct black color in the oil and also has a burnt smell to it so the rule of thumb that you should change your oil once it darkens and starts to blacken applies universally to all motor oils. The condition of all the various internal engine components all contribute to the rate at which this occurs and an oil or engine manufacturer cannot possibly predict those specific conditions of any particular engine once it has left the factory floor. Therefor, any manufacturer's attempts to advise a consumer as to when their oil should be changed or the frequency in which it should be changed is a farce and should not be taken as sound advice in preference to the clear indication given by the obvious appearance of your particular engines motor oil, which is easily observed by frequently pulling the dipstick from the tube located under the hood and mounted on the side of every motor vehicle. I recommend taking a moment to check the level and color of it and all of your vehicles other fluids while refueling your vehicle and that you add or change them accordingly. Thats the only sound advice anyone could possibly offer you on the subject.
