What Can I measure with the TriField TF2?

The TF2 measures EMF from WiFi, Bluetooth, most cellular signals, motors, wiring, and common appliances like microwaves or induction cooktops. It does not measure signals below 20 MHz, radioactivity, or millimeter-wave 5G/6G frequencies above 6 GHz.

Why does my TF2 measurement seem to 'jump' or 'bounce'?

EMF fields—especially RF (radio frequencies)—are constantly changing, so readings aren’t fixed. The TriField meter displays these real-time fluctuations instead of smoothing the data. Check the peak value in the upper left to see the fast RF signals.

When comparing the TriField TF2 meter to another meter (or professional service), the readings don't match. Why?

Great question. Meter readings can differ for two main reasons: sensor placement and frequency range. Even small position changes can affect readings. Meters with different frequency coverage may detect different signals, especially in RF mode.

While measuring my phone or router, I don’t see any signal — why?

This is normal. Phones and routers spend most of their time in low-power standby mode and transmit only when sending or receiving data. To see higher RF levels, stream a video, make a call, or download a large file while measuring.

Can the TF2 be used to measure signals from infrastructure like cell towers?

Yes, the TF2 can measure cell tower emissions. Keep in mind that not all towers are cellular, tower signals are directional, and activity varies. For stronger readings, measure some distance away and stream data or make a call while testing.
