Better than the first zoo
Is a great gift for any age. Bought it for my 9 year old daughter as a gift. She loves the challenge and the animals.

Good Game
I'm Shawna, Denise's daughter. Game came in good condition. My only complaint about this game is when you're in Troubled Zoo, it doesn't give you enough time to complete the mission where you release endangered animals back to the wild in order to achieve the education center. The other missions are easy to accomplish and the graphics are pretty good.

Better for younger kids
We bought this for an 11yr old boy's birthday present. We decided to try it out first (lol, couldn't resist) and we were glad we did. We definately bought it for the wrong agegroup. My 6 yr old daughter ended up loving it... got something else for the 11 yr old. The things I like: I believe its the computer version, but some of them you can drown the guests and feed them to the lions. I don't think you can in this one, not that any of us have discovered anyway. :) Also, you have to learn what habitats the different animals thrive in. A very small educational value added in. Things I don't like: none so far. It's a favorite around here.

Fun, but awkward
From the time they first premiered, I've been a strong fan of all the PC Zoo Tycoon games. However, I'm much more on the go recently than I ever have been in the past, and handheld games have been more interesting to me as of late. I thought to myself, I love ZT. Why not love this? What's Good: The game has classic menus and navigation, making it easy for a regular ZT player to immerse themselves in the game. There are a variety of animals to choose from, including reptiles and mammals, living and extinct. The zookeeper mode minigames are a nice touch. The animal sprites are fun and a little bit retro. What's Not So Good: The graphics are poor, compared to this game's DS counterparts. It feels more like Blue Fang tried to cram the full version of the game onto a tiny screen rather than create detailed graphics. Just a hint, BF: for tiny graphics, the simpler, the better. There are limits on both how many exhibits you can have(10), as well as how many animals (30) which I found to be hindering to my gameplay. The controls are a bit awkward to use, and could have been more DS-friendly. Conclusion: Could be better, but remains just as fun as the PC versions of Zoo Tycoon. A good game to buy if you're a ZT junkie, but not the best game for someone looking for a unique experience.

I hope my brother likes this better than I did...
I ordered this for Christmas so I would have it to give to my brother who loves these games. I bought a used/like new copy so it came opened. Interested since I liked the first DS game, I decided to play it and see what it was about. Of course I was going to play it! I've got a month until it needs to be wrapped so why not? What I discovered was that this game is a complete let down. It's much simpler than the first game, as if they don't think we can handle the pressure of figuring things out on our own. In the original first game, you hire workers to care for the animals in each exhibit. You can still do that in the DS game, but I still found myself trying to care for the animals because the frown face is still there even with a keeper. To care for your animals, you have to play annoying mini-games that you have to repeat for every animal. You're options are severely and drastically limited in this version. You can't build large thought out areas for guests to sit and eat because you're limited by how many things you can place in your zoo. The buildings are practically boring, and they cost more to keep than they make. You can't place a whole lot of them and there aren't really many kinds, even after you research everything. The fact that they cost so much to maintain makes them not even worth buying considering they don't make enough money to even break even. In the original Zoo Tycoon DS game, the buildings actually did something, and there were much more to choose from. In this game, they are practically useless. The fact that you can't place trees or terrain outside the exhibits also diminishes the idea of scenery, and making the zoo nice to look at as well. The exhibits are really small, and the free play zoo is really really small. You might be able to fit six good sized exhibits inside if you add buildings and try to make some sort of scenery work. This game had the potential to be even better than the first one, but with limiting so much of the creativity I loved from the first one, all they did was ruin it. It's good for someone whose never played any other game and has no idea what their missing, but to anyone whose ever played any Zoo Tycoon game, stick with the first Zoo Tycoon if you want a good game on the go. I ordered the first one with this one, but I haven't gotten it yet. It was mine, but my brother sold it so I'm getting it back. I will HAPPILY give up this game as a gift, though I'm sure he won't like it either. He loves the creativity too much. Worse comes to worse, I'll get a little credit at GameStop for it.

Damaged out of box, but customer service is good
Didn’t work, but the seller refunded it as soon as I informed them, so I gave them an extra star for having decent customer service.

Works perfectly!
It's clear they tested the product beforehand. Game was bagged neatly even though it didn't come with original case. No glitches or wear on the game. Perfect!
