I was able to make sense of the one on the page, but that is a great simplified, concise version that was helpful and easier to view when wiring it up. I specifically purchased the 4.5-100VDC /0-50A meter. I do a lot of tinkering in general with circuitboards and DC voltage, but for some devices I would need to or may exceed the 10amp fuse on the meters I have that can measure DC amperage (and also, the ones that I do have some weird 10A fuse you can't just run out and get somewhere, go figure, lol) One such project was replacing the dead Ni-MH battery in an old cordless vacuum with something more modern and readily available. I found a power tool battery that would supply 24VDC and that was also capable of providing the needed amperage, which I'm running through a DC Buck converter with adjustable voltage and amperage. This meter allowed me to correctly measure the voltage and adjust the amperage amp by amp to insure I was only reaching the amperage the vacuum needed to run without going over. I look forward to wiring up a little 3d printed enclosure to install this into so I can use it more like a regular meter with my tinkering. You will need 2 meters with their respective current transformers (those black donuts). One donut for each of the main power wires coming from the meter. Since these donuts aren’t split, you will need to disconnect the cables while still live, unless you remove the power meter. Total power used is the sum of the meters. Basically, you will need an electrician. Or you could by the MTP 3100 or equivalent. It comes with 2 current transformers that are split, so that you open them, slide on the cable, and then close them around the cables. No cutting or disconnecting power. The current transformers are connected to a wireless transmitter that transmits to the base station which sums up the power consumed/cost per hour based on your kWh rate and weekly consumption graph from the 120V and 240V loads instantaneously. There is also a cable and software to connect to your PC. **Q: Power source? Does this run off the power of the circuit being tested or does it need a separate power source? Is it "self powered"?** A: It probably can but if you look at the images posted by the seller, it has a wiring diagram that says "Use isolated power source" for the meter's function. Probably because the meter measures 0-90VDC but is only able to handle a 0-30VDC power source. The last image has a very clear wiring diagram that's easy to red and understand from there on out though. It matches what I can get with my calibrated BK Precision bench meter to the precision allowed by the DROK meter, which is "good enough" for my hobbyist stuff. I do wish there were markings on the housing itself for which terminals were which; if you ever lose the decal off the back of the unit and don't remember how things are wired up, you may have a bad time.
