How does the lid stay on? From the photos I cant see any handle to open it or close it? Need a secure lid for my kayak that can potentially capsize?

I have the 66 litre version. It has a slight recess as a handle to pull the lid open, but it is only held shut by friction. That wouldn't stop you putting a ratchet strap around it to hold it shut. Note though that when I carried this box after the ice had melted the water slopped out via a closed lid, so it would likely fill up with water when you capsized. The box would be pretty boyant though as the walls are filled with foam. So you could use zip lock type bags inside and use the drain at the end to empty water back out without opening the lid.

Before I buy, can you tell me how many freezer blocks you should use in this 66l version? A specific product recommendation would be appreciated

I bought a pack of 3x6 freezer blocks (18 blocks in total) for my 70QT Cooler Box. How many freezer blocks you would need would depend on how many other items you would need to put in to the box. I have a fridge/freezer that the previous owner of my house left when he moved out which is not the greatest appliance as it is not frost free and needs occasionally defrosting. I got this cool box to put my frozen food in together with the freezer blocks whilst the freezer defrosted over several hours. This really worked quite well and after putting the food back in to the freezer I left the freezer blocks inside the cool box and the following day the freezer blocks were still partly frozen.

Unisex? I was unaware that cool boxes could be gender specific
