Exactly What I Expect from Brother
I've been using Brother color laser printers since 2007. They're workhorses that deliver great print quality (as long as you're not printing photos - that's not what these are good for) and have separate toner cartridges. I bought this one to replace a model I've had since 2015. It was still working fine, but the drum unit was gonna need replacing soon, and rather than spend $220 on that for a 10 yo discontinued model, I decided to get a this one. Setup was seamless, and both my Mac and partner's laptop connected immediately. The black print quality is exactly as I expect from Brother - flawless - and color is what I expect too: it's fine. Would it be nice if Brother improved its color print quality? Of course. But Brother's focus for laser printers has always been on business use, not creative work or high saturation color printing, so if you need super high quality color prints, this is NOT the printer you want. (I can understand why some folks dock stars for this; I'm not because I knew this going in.) It's a good bit smaller than my previous printer, so that's nice; it doesn't take up as much visual space. It's also quieter than the previous model. Now do I wish Brother would ship with full cartridges? Of course. But none of the printer companies do that, so it's not a reason to dock stars. And do I think the toner subscription is a money grab? For sure, so I'm not signing up. Finally, it's my understanding that toner reset can't be done via the software on these newer models, which if true, is annoying. But there's at least one post on reddit about how to get around that. ;)

Fast and Reliable Color Printing with the Brother HL-L3295CDW
Before purchasing the Brother HL-L3295CDW, I checked the reviews on Amazon. Some noted that although it is a color printer, the colors are not as vivid compared to an inkjet printer. This seems to be a limitation due to the difference in printing methods, and it is not something that can easily be improved. With that in mind, I decided to purchase this laser color printer because of its fast printing speed, the ability to print many pages without frequently changing ink, and the fact that—even if it cannot match an inkjet—it still produces good-quality color prints with its own laser-printed tone. My eldest son is majoring in Computer Graphics at university and creates digital art. For him, this printer has been very efficient, allowing him to quickly print in color and immediately check the results of his work. The print quality has been more than satisfactory. It is also very convenient that printing can be done not only from a PC but also from a phone or tablet. One thing I overlooked was the size. It turned out to be larger than I expected—bigger than the monochrome laser printer I had been using before (the Brother HL2170W). The actual unit is noticeably larger than it looks in photos. For home use, I might have chosen a slightly smaller model. That said, overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and look forward to doing a variety of color printing in the future.

Works great and is toner friendly
These are great printers. THey don't use high amounts of tonet, and with good paper print high quality images with deep color.

I won’t buy again
Update: DONT do subscription. Doesn’t work - they send ink a WEEK after it is completely gone! Crazy. The printer will constantly annoy you about not using their authentic toner - so expect to have to clear that EVERY SINGlE print job. They will charge you for every page printed - I never got toner, but they will now charge me for the 100 pages I had to print anyways 🤣. Update: Not only are they now charging me for the toner I never even received but they sent more toner - that I can't return that they insist I need to pay as a 'setup' toner fee. Incredible. The TONER DOESN"T WORK AFTER YOUR TURN OFF SUBSCRIPION _ TOTALLY DISHONEST TO SEND TONER THEY KNOW WILL NOT WORK AFTER SUBSCRIPTION. I'm guessing a bunch of "really smart" marketers think they have figured out a way to make their failed subscription service at least make money the first month. Unfortunately, those marketers will be gone by the time I need to buy another printer and I will NOT be buying from Brother after this experience. Piece of junk. I can't get a single project to print smoothly. NOT ONE. The printer after one “firmware” update will no longer print from my computer. Only from a mobile phone!! Not the point….it is truly annoying. I did a TON of research before purchasing this printer. I mean Amazon reviews but also bloggers, wirecutter, Reddit, talked to people etc etc - I have been putting this order off for months. It seems like no printer on the market works anymore based on reviews here. Some require subscriptions?! For Apple users who needed color and didn’t want to deal with clogging of an ink jet printer if I didn’t use it daily (and all the cleaning required), this model kept coming up on top of lists. So I gave it a shot. What is okay: 1) does not require a subscription (but it is offered DO NOT DO IT NOT EVEN FOR A WEEK WILL COST YOU $600 and you can't even use the toner!!). 2) Print setup easy at first (just won’t work a month later). 3) Touch screen works - but keyboard on this little screen is too small to enter password so I used my Apple Pencil and it worked. 4) color printing looks fine - definitely not accurate color though if you care. Streaks all over after 2 prints - sucky drums 5) quickly got onto WiFi 6) love the flat paper tray to preload stack of paper and easy sliders to load different sizes. I was sick of my HP paper loading system that always required nudging. This is a huge upgrade to my printing life. No babysitting! (But honestly, this type of thing is 20 year old "upgrade" so not exactly ground breaking here, the fact that all printers don't do this by now is just showing how bad this industry really is) Note: I’m not printing pictures. I’m an author illustrator and so while I use heavy color, I’m not looking for photo quality and can’t speak to that. But I can’t imagine it could possibly do photos accurately based on paper prints I do. All in all I’ll try to limp through using it 300-400 pages a month off my phone. Hoping maybe another update will come through and fix this issue but for now, USB print doesn’t work and neither does computer. Again, do not do the subscription. Brother is diluting itself if it thinks that is good service. Waiting until something is out- which means the printer is 100% down and will not print even black and white until the required color toner is installed - and they ship slow 5day UPS ground so you are without a printer for a week MINIMUM is a total joke. I don’t get who that could possibly work for…I think this is a scam - people sign up for one month, pay $600 and get scammed.

Great Laser Printer for Daily or Occasional Use
I got tired of inkjet printers, ink cost, and ink drying up if not used regularly. I had been looking for an affordable color laser printer that was compact and provided good print quality. While it wasn't cheap, I had some gift cards to use so it ended up being cheaper for me. It arrived quickly and was very easy to setup. Once setup, I was able to print within a few minutes. Only gripe I have is that you need slightly thicker paper (as with all laser printers) and that the paper curls after printing. But if you let it sit then it straightens out. This printer is great for everyday printing like documents, homework, greeting cards, arts and craft, etc but do not expect great photos. Photos are just okay quality regardless of how much you play with the settings. We don't print a lot all the time so it may be sitting doing nothing for a week or two before we print something. And it turns on within a few seconds and is ready to print. My old inkject wasn't the same. If we turned on the inkjet after two weeks, it would first try to clean the heads and waste ink and then when we print it would have streaks or fading. With this laser printer, its always the same doesn't matter how long it has been sitting. I love the fact that it game with regular toner cartridges (not just starters). I have been using this normally for about 3 months now and still only down to 90% on the black toner. I would recommend this printer for everyday use. Just not for photos.

Great printer
I have used other copiers but Brother is the best. This is no exception. It was easy to set up and use with my computer, tablet and even my cellphone. The colors are sharp and clear. I have been using it often tge months that I have had it. I could not recommend it enough. Great printer!

Very difficult installation
The printer is now working fine but the installation was very difficult the driver download did not work, downloaded again and it hung up, finally downloaded again and executed the install and went to bed and the morning it had installed, but it was a very slow and frustrating process. I wanted to install the printer as a wireless, but the directions did not match anything on the printer and after many frustrating attempts, I finally decided to install it as a USB connection to the computer, but I would have preferred the wireless installation. Their written instructions really leave much to be desired. And the price of the cartridge refills is exorbinant.

No regrets! Loving it!
Love this machine! It prints quickly and quietly. Love the app so I can print even when I’m not home, to pick up later or for my kids. Happy I bought it!

Good printer
One of the best colour laser printer. Easy to set up and virtually maintenence free. I haven't connected to the internet as there isn't a need but that seemed easy to do as well.

Hidden Savings
Good printer, just works like it should. Best thing is you can use 3rd party cartridges which will save you money in the future.

Nice printer
Got this as a home printer. Easy to set up, took 10 minutes including removing all the packing. Prints pretty fast and its about as loud as any laser printer. The colour photo printing is pretty good for a laser at this price point. Solid buy. Can't give it 5 stars cause the toner is so expensive. No need for it to be that expensive. We'll see how long it lasts under fairly light duty.

💫Big Brother Color Printer🖨
Product: Brother HL-L3295CDW Wireless Compact Digital Colour Printer with Laser Quality Output, Duplex, and NFC on Ink & Toner with a Refresh Subscription Delivered: Dec 5 2025 Location: YYC _____ The search for a new color printer was predicated on the ridiculously expensive toner cartridges for HP and Canon color laser printers that was purchased 5 years ago. Granted, color toner is relatively expensive but now it’s over the top. The relative cost to purchase any color laser printer is quite a bit less expensive than the continued purchase of 4 toner cartridges (black and 3 color). Currently, the Brother toner cartridges are quite a bit cheaper than either the HP and Canon toner cartridges. The savings from purchasing a full set of Brother toner cartridges pays for the Brother printer when compared to the cost of purchasing 4 toner cartridges for either the HP or Canon laser printer. Non-OEM replacement HP and Canon toner cartridges were tested in the past with terrible results: • Toner leaking from cartridges • Toner streaks on paper • Less toner capacity in each cartridge with reduced printed pages As such, OEM toner cartridges were determined to be more effective to reduce downtime, damage to printers and its on-going maintenance. The Brother’s colored print quality is superior to the HP laser printer and on par with the Canon laser printer. The print speed is similar to the HP and Canon printer. Starting to print of the initial page is a little quicker on the Canon and the same for HP. The differences between the printers are marginal, but the savings in toner cartridge cost is HUGE. The remaining 3 non-Brother printers will be replaced by Brother colored printers. The Brother printer is fantastic for a small office, especially with the 30 page multi-purpose tray where different a type paper can be easily feed through. There is a variety of ways to connect with the printer: built-in dual band wireless (2.4GHz/5GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, Gigabit Ethernet or connect locally to a single computer via USB interface. Our small office uses the Ethernet connection to the WiFi router, which will allow any computer connected to the router by LAN or WiFi to print their document. Set-up of the Ethernet connection was super simple by plugging in an Ethernet cable to the printer from the WiFi router. Our Android mobile devices (mobile phone and tablets) are connected using WiFi direct through Brother’s Mobile Connect App. Again, super easy to set-up by turning on WiFi Direct on the printer through its set-up menu, downloading and opening the App, and finding the printer in the Mobile Connect App. Tremendous value to $400 (+tax) sale price and on-going purchase of toner cartridges, although relatively expensive, is quite a bit cheaper than HP and Canon. The 🤩 GOOD • Excellent color printing • Huge savings on OEM replacement toner cartridges as compared to HP and Canon • Mobile connect app works flawlessly The 👺 BAD • None at this time
