Great Quality, has some heft
I had to replace my stolen rolling pin that was an heirloom. While it can never be replaced this is a good substitute. It has some heft to it, is smooth maple and has ball bearings like my old one. I think the red handles are ugly but they do provide good grip. Made in Maine, USA which makes me happy.

Wow, what a nice piece of wood-working!
My old rolling pin was worn, tired, and a little small for my hands. I looked at quite a few choices for a new model. Much of what I saw was comparable in quality to the one I was retiring. That's ok, but I wanted to buy a better quality model; I wanted a "lifetime" rolling pin, maybe even heirloom quality. And that's what I got with the Fletcher's Mill 12-inch model. It's larger in diameter and length than my old model, it is definitely heavier, and it really rolls wonderfully, thanks to the ball bearings that support the roller. If you think ball bearings are overkill, I'd urge you to think again. This rolling pin rolls so smoothly and evenly that it's a pleasure to roll out pie dough, cookie dough and scone mix. The rolling pin is also a wood-working piece of art. It's so beautifully finished that it's really a shame not to have it on display in the kitchen. Spend a few dollars for top-notch quality. You won't be sorry.

Beautiful, but rusts badly inside
This rolling pin is gorgeous - I love the hard maple and the red handles, the size, and the heft. Initially I loved the incredibly smooth rolling mechanism. However, in under a year I noticed the metal rod has begun to rust badly, and the rolling has become significantly less smooth and easy. A piece around the metal rod (the bearings, maybe?) seems to have become loose and slides out of the wood frequently as well (you can see this in one of my pictures). I have never submerged my pin in water - briefly hand washed only, under the faucet, and left out to dry before putting it away. I contacted the company and was told there isn’t a warrantee, and although I could send it back for repair, I would be responsible for the cost of the repair if they determined there isn’t a flaw in the product. They suggested dripping cooking oil into the rolling mechanism to oil the bearings. I did so, and it did make a difference in how easily it rolls, although it’s not back to the original state and obviously still rusty inside. I thought this rolling pin was going to last years, perhaps even be heirloom worthy - it seemed so well crafted! It’s such a shame the bearings and rod aren’t made of something that will withstand some moisture, which is inevitable for a tool used in the kitchen that will always require cleaning after use.

Poorly made
The first hour we used it the handle fell off and now there is a crack in the handle. The other one we bought has been good so far but still disappointed with the product

Awesome quality
This rolling pin was even more than I expected. It is beautiful and something that should last my daughter-in-law's lifetime. She asked for a rolling pin and I don't think she knew there was a difference between them. This one is beautiful enough to display. After many years of rolling dough with my grandmother's rolling pin, I have to say I would like the Fletcher's Mill one a whole lot better. It is more weighted and longer which would make rolling dough a lot easier. This was definitely worth the cost. Once I have recovered from Christmas shopping, I plan to buy this for myself. I will be displaying it on my wall also. It is too long to fit into my kitchen drawer, but that's probably because I got the 12-inch one. I especially LOVE that it was made in the United States. Much better than buying from China.
