After two months it just stopped working completely. Have tried different USB ports as well as changed to USB C cable.... nothing worked

I purchased this to allow my laptop to connect to my speakers when I'm at home. When it worked, the sound quality was good, but there were too many occasions where it would crackle, stop playback, and then restart - my speakers were constantly crackling from the regular disconnections. Sadly, what looks and sounds like a good product just wasn't what I expected so returned for a refund. The adapter feels very well made, so maybe I got a faulty one, but having tried different TOSLINK cables and another PC, I experienced the same issue.
