Can someone please confirm the inside diameter of the fitting. I need a fitting for a tube that is 1" in diameter.

This will accept PVC pipe that has an outside diameter of 1.315" or 1-5/16". If you have a PVC pipe that has an outside diameter of close to 1" exact, then you will need the 3/4" version of this product, as 3/4" PVC pipe has an outside diameter of 1.050, or just over 1".

Will "furniture grade be reliable for an outside shade structure I'm putting together?

t is recommended by manufacturers. such as U.S. Plastic Corp, that PVC pipe and fittings be painted after installation with a coat of white water based latex paint to provide for UV resistance. The UV light is what is part of the sunlight that can degrade PVC.

I am trying to make a frame i can take down and put away. is the fit so tight i can't get it on and off the pvc pipe?

No it isn't. The fit is snug so it holds very well, yet can be easily disassembled. Twisting the pipe helps removal of the fittings also.
