In all respects including the non-stick grill surfaces it works as excellent as it did when we bought it from K Mart (remember them?). I wish everything else was this well designed and constructed with materials of this quality. As MaxSparkley comments, "We love ours" **Q: Can you cook two grilled cheese at once?** A: Yes, but if you like butter to cook your grilled cheese in, the sloping feature is going to make all your butter run right out. :( **Q: What metal are the grill plates made of?** A: The plates are light weight non stick Aluminum completely removable for easy cleaning . I found this unit to be handy for a quick meal & works best with defrosted meat. **Q: CAN YOU COOK MARINATED MEAT** A: I use this frequently for marinated items (steak, chicken breasts, boneless chicken thighs, fish, burgers w/"stuff", vegetables) and that works fine, with one exception: if you are going to do any 'batching' of marinated items, like processing them serially, if you use certain marinades you will need to clean between items or will blacken and smoke. Teriyaki, for example, does this every time. It is easy to clean, but still a disrupter. same would be true if you were batching to do a larger volume of the same things. Make great paninis, however. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Inexpensive and useful *by R***Y on November 16, 2025* I had this in my cart for a long time, thinking about whether I would really use it or not. I found it on sale and pulled the trigger. I find that I actually use it at least once or twice a week. I bought it to make burgers since I am not crazy about having to clean up the grease splatter when I use my cast iron skillet but honestly, I am still on the fence about whether I like how the burgers come out. Since there is no temperature control, you just season the meat, throw it on the grill and wait. The meat is cooked and has the grill lines cooked in but you don’t get the same char (flavor) as cast iron. What this grill does really well is grilled sandwiches, especially grilled cheese. The way I do it is to initially grill the bread separately so the butter can melt in. Then I take them off, build my grilled cheese and put it back to brown. I think if you tried to start with butter on both sides of a sandwich, the butter on the bottom half would run into the grease tray so less than ideal. I have also done pork chops and was fairly pleased with how they came out. The grill plates are removable which makes clean up easy. The top and bottom have no locking mechanism so storage can be a little challenging. I find it easier to just leave it on my counter.
