Delve into the intricate detail of Josephine Wall's exquisite paintings and connect with the magical worlds depicted in her art. Long-time fans of Wall's work will relish this opportunity to re-interpret her best-known pieces while coloring addicts will delight in the endless potential of this artwork. Each of the 45 coloring patterns features a short commentary by the artist offering insights into the stories behind the original paintings. Review: Incredibly Beautiful and Intricate Fairy Artwork Designs – printed one side of the page - I have been a fan of Joesphine Wall's artwork for years. I own several puzzles and other items which have her full color designs on them. Her artwork is ethereal with beautiful colors swirling around. The cover art on this coloring book is a good representation of what I have seen before. When I saw this book was available, I ordered it immediately. The coloring book is beautiful and well made as expected; however what surprised me most was how differently her artwork appears when the color is removed. Just as beautiful but different. I see the incredible intricate detail that her line art involves. Just a few ink strokes and there is a fairy looking back at me with a face and expression that is unique from the others in the book. I especially love the “Fairy Bubbles” design with the repeating pattern of a young fairy getting smaller and smaller within the infinite reflection of the bubble. I am buying a second book to keep as a coffee table book showing her line art. That way I can color in my book at my less than optimal skill level and still have the lovely original artwork to look at. While I do not recommend this book to anyone who has visual or dexterity issues, I think that anyone with a little experience coloring and who wants a huge challenge can have fun with it. It is certainly appropriate for advanced artists as well. The artwork is very detailed, very intricate and has very small areas to color. Some designs are a little less detailed and those will be the first I will attempt. Part of the challenge of coloring in this book for me will be finding the medium that has a delicate enough tip. The designs are on the right hand side of the book. On the sheet opposite (which is the backside of the previous design), the artist has provided the name of the artwork as well as insight into the subject of the design with a short paragraph explaining the design. It gives context to the design and helps bring it alive. This is what I experienced looking through and testing my coloring medium on the paper (the last page is not a design page and works well for testing.) 45 Detailed and Intricate Fairy Designs by Josephine Wall Printed on one side of the page Design information is printed on the back side of the page Paper is heavy weight, cream color, slightly rough and non-perforated The book has a detached dustcover (inside and attached cover are both left blank.) Sewn binding (easily to remove several pages at a time by snipping threads) Designs have a framing line around the outer edges Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paperweight Water-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens did not bleed through. Gel pens required a bit more drying time. Colored pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good color and to get deeper pigment by layering the same color. I found that I could layer multiple colors well and easily blend using a pencil style blending stick. This was the case with both oil and wax-based pencils. When I use alcohol-based markers, I also use a blotter page of card stock under my working page. It keeps ink from seeping through to and marring the page below. Review: Beautiful But Not for Beginners - I love Ms. Wall's work, and purchase and send her greeting cards often. The coloring book is beautiful, but a bit daunting for a beginner. The drawings are very detailed, with lots of tiny elements. and the lines are light and very fine. This makes for spectacular finished pictures, but be prepared to spend a lot of time deciding your strategy for coloring them.

Extraordinary
What an extraordinary coloring book! The illustrations are beautiful. They are very detailed and delicate. Definitely for an advanced colorist. The paper is of very good quality and the printing is top notch. Illustrations are on one-side. This book is a must buy for the serious colorist.

There are a lot of hidden faces
So many tiny, tiny details. It looks like it was drawn with a fine line pen . You really have to take your time with this book. Some things are hard to make out. But it does have a beautiful outlook

The best adult coloring book I own. And I have a lot.
To all fellow colonists. This book is a must have, wiether or not your into fairies. The art work is simply amazing, beautiful. This book is for advanced colonists,I wouldn't suggest for a beginner. Paper stock is thick, excellent quality. No wonder this book keeps selling out. Hoping this artist makes more books. Would purchase in a heartbeat.

Best Fairy Coloring Book Ever !!!
I preordered this in August after seeing Wall's calendars and puzzles, and it did not disappoint. Very small and detailed areas will require gel pens. I took the first book apart and made copies to practice Wall's lovely coloring effects. So far I haven't succeeded. I am giving a second copy to my 7 year old granddaughter to see if she wants the challenge for Christmas. I am keeping the third copy "just because." I love the names and short descriptions of the fairies. Finally, a coloring book with both great paper and images inside that reflect the same great art in each inner page as on the cover.. Not recommended for beginners or to the impatient.

Disappointed
Very complicated, tinily detailed pictures. This would be fine if the original painting was there as a guide. Printed as is, you'd almost need to be an artist to pull off any decent coloring. On your own, this book will easily end up a complete mess

Worth it i could enjoy the art without coloring.
Wow this product looks and feels great. The cover is quality. The pages are good. Based on quality alone i see the value. The art is very good i think this will be fun but challangeing to color.

A Proper Challenge
WOW, this is not a book for the faint hearted, personally I adore Josephine Wall's art, having bought my mother a 2000 piece jigsaw a couple of years ago, I knew exactly what to expect and was delighted to see her work in colouring book form, but the detail on some of the reproductions is incredibly small and being of an age where my eyesight is starting to falter, there were times when they felt a bit strained after some lengthy sessions on my first picture. It has not put me off though and I shall return particularly now the nights are getting lighter. The book itself is to Blue Angel's usual standard - I now have three of theirs - and provided they do not change their format, I would never think twice about ordering one of their colouring books.

Not ideal as a colouring book
Her original artwork is beautiful but the images in the colouring book are very difficult to colour.
