Review: An enjoyable sequel - I read this straight after Sac de Bulles. It’s an enjoyable read depicting the trials and tribulations of the author (with his two best buddies) , who is captivated by the American dream of fame & wealth in contrast to the austerity & shortages of post-war Paris, and doesn’t want anything to do with adult efforts to focus on mundane things like completing his education and getting a job in the family hairdressing business. It’s a coming of age story, which I found touching and engaging, which paints a vivid picture of the wheeling & dealing climate of the time. Not sure that I believed every word - in particularl, how his first night of passion unrolled! What I do find incredible (although not literally) is that all this is happening to a kid aged 14 - it feels as if he should be at least a couple of years older! To correct a comment elsewhere, Maurice his brother does not figure in the story at all and is never mentioned. Review: Lexture - Belle suite d un sac de billes
