Great seed or cloning starter
Heating from teh bottom is important when starting seeds or cloning cuttings (heath and heather). For seeds, its perfect. For cuttings, wish it was about 2 inches taller, but it did work out well. The heating pad keeps the correct temperature - just warm and not hot.

Seeds sprouted in two days!
I was BLOWN AWAY, yes you heard me right, BLOWN AWAY when I planted some pink zinnias and purple basil TWO DAYS AGO and they sprouted using these mats. I ordered the two pack during Black Friday $17.60 - should have ordered more, if I knew how amazing these were, dang it. Now I have to wait for another sale!! I am using these mats in combination with another Black Friday purchase I've made, the Bstrip DIY Plant Shelf on Amazon ($169), and these two products together has changed my plant-growing and cooking hobbies forever! To sprout my seeds I use tofu containers because they are nice and square and fit on these mats well, and they are cheap because I already have them and when I am done they can go into the recycle for plastic. I drill holes into the bottom, that's the only real work using the tofu containers. I can get 8 tofu containers onto one mat. I use a sterile seed starting formula like Jiffy, wet the soil thoroughly in a bucket, press the soil into the tofu containers to allow excess water to drain out. To plant my seeds, I use a rounded chopstick to poke holes into the soil, and a fine tweezer set such as the 6 pcs Kaverme fine precision tweezer set $6.99 (also purchased on Amazon), then cover the seeds, place the tofu containers into BlueSky Multi-Purpose Food Storage Bags Gallon size $4.96 (Amazon) and use the twist ties to seal. I like this set up because I don't have to worry about water getting onto my floors and the plastic bags serve as mini-greenhouses to speed up germination. I've also started to place my water propagated plants onto the heating mat to speed up root formation as I've seen a lot of gardeners do on social media. I use these heat mats also for my sourdough starter, which has been great because the bottom heat is just right enough to speed up the fermentation without having to use my oven/light. I've tried placing sourdough starter in my garage, but it's still not warm enough, and I live in the tropics!

Pretty good purchase even though 1 of the 2 died the second year. Paid less than $15 for both.
I bought 2 of these for my veggie starts. They both worked great the first year. Second year one died and I didn't replace it. 4 years later the first one is still working strong. Yes I would buy again.

Great investment picture tells all
Edit(11/28): ****everybody sprouted!****note that I also have a grow light. So with both light and mat, the success rate is much higher***** Definitely worth to invest! I put broccoli seeds on 11/25, picture taken 11/27. I’m on day 3. Although some seeds aren’t germinated yet but this rate definitely gives you a boost. I sowed seeds 2x directly this September and again October, both failed, a small portion of them came out then got eaten by some garden theft. My last attempt with the help of the mats!

A simple way to give your seed trays a jumpstart in colder climates
I recently picked up a couple of these VIVOSUN seedling heat mats to give my plants a little extra TLC during the cooler spring weather here in Hardiness Zone 5B. I've got them set up in my 4-tier mini greenhouse, and so far, I'm really impressed with how they're performing. The installation was a piece of cake. All you have to do is unroll the mats, place them under your seed trays, and plug them in. No muss, no fuss. Each mat was perfect for the standard seed trays I picked up at my local garden center. Once powered on, these mats provide a nice, gentle heat that seems to be just right for germination. I'm not a pro and haven't measured things super precisely, but my basil, thai basil, oregano, sage, thyme, chives, lemon balm, and catnip seem to have no complaints. The heat feels very uniform across the whole mat too. I've also gotten them a bit wet during watering and there's been zero issues. They seem built to last. All in all, I've gotta give these VIVOSUN mats two green thumbs up. They're doing a stellar job keeping my seedlings cozy and thriving during these last few weeks before I can move them outside.

Using these led to obvious positive results
I've tried germinating dwarf tamarillo seeds more times than I can remember without a heating pad and within a month of planting them again and using these pads I finally see a seedling. There's no temperature control, it just slightly radiates heat. It's not hot to the touch and while I don't think it's particularly dangerous I don't leave them running when I'm not around either. Like any heating element, I'd make sure it's powered off when not present. But it does the job as basic as it is, and for that it earned the positive review.

VIVOSUN 2 Pack Durable Waterproof Seedling Heat Mat
This is the second time I have purchased heat mats for my seeds in the greenhouse. Both of them have worked well and performed as advertised. They are durable and just the right size to fit on the shelves of my mini greenhouse and the one I built. The thermostat does very well and kept my seeds from being killed by the recent cold and frost. I recommend that anyone who wants to protect their plants, purchase these warming mats. But make sure that you get a thermostat regulator to maintain the proper heat on the plants.
