I used it to remove rust on the screws of a19th century concertina. The screws had rusted and swelled, so were becoming too tight in their threads. These screws are quite difficult to obtain, so I was keen to restore them without damage. After a very light rub with Scotchbrite I dropped them into a small amount of Evaporust and left them for two hours, then rinsed them thoroughly. The good metal on the screws had become clean, with a light grey colour. The rust had gone, leaving a black pitted surface where the rust had eaten in. This was a really good result, giving me restored screws without removing any good metal. I soaked the screws in GT85 (or WD40) for a couple of minutes, then let them dry off completely, gave them a final polish with tissue and now they are back in use. The Evaporust that I used was only lightly discoloured, so I was able to top it up a little and use it on the next project. So it is a very effective product, which I will certainly keep on using. I really like that is safely disposable for the home user. I have only given it 4 stars because of the eye-watering cost. I had assumed from the photo that I ordered a large amount, possibly 2.5 litres or 5 litres, but I didn't check (stupid I know), but in fact it was only1 litre. This is really expensive stuff! I understand some of the reason why- it has shipped from the USA. So be aware before ordering. Having said that, I will buy more as I need it.

Bought this to clean out a well rusted motorcycle tank - having never used it before I wasn't sure how strong or fast acting it is, so I dipped my toes in with a 1L bottle. It's nowhere near enough to do the job, and the amount required would be prohibitively expensive. After 24h it had made a small difference, and I could see that with a smaller job like taking rust off some tools in a small container it's probably good. For a fiver less than the 1L of evaporust I got 20L of white vinegar delivered from a well known online auction site, which filled the tank completely and thus cleaned all sides perfectly without me having to turn it over and slosh it about all the time.

Fantastic rust remover , non toxic no smell

Not what I thought it would do on metal tools.

I soaked some rusted drum and guitar hardware overnight and the rust virtualy disappears. Might require a tooth brush and elbow grease to finish the job, but most parts came out perfect without scrubbing. I also recommend a product called "Dry Coat Rust preventative spray" to use hand in hand with this. My process is: Soak > Scrub if required > Put items in a plastic cup > Spray with dry coat > Rotatate cup to coat > Leave on paper towel to dry. Bonus points for being reusable although it does get pretty murky after a few uses.

Wirkt einwandfrei und der Rost ist sehr schnell beseitigt. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Good stuff, works great. With heavier rust, you may need to soak for a few hours, remove and hit with a wire brush or steel wool and then re-soak. For lighter rust, after soaking for few hours, rust wipes right off. Doesnt dry out or burn your skin either
