Simply works.
I have two sets of these. We use them to get video from A/V receiver to LCD projector and to get video from conference room meeting table to the A/V receiver. Pros: Video looks great Power connector is screw-on and totally secure Includes mounting hardware Cons: Requires power at both transmitter and receiver. Might be a challenge in some situations. I have had one occurence where I had to power cycle the transmitter to reestablish connection. One of my receivers is in a plenum space and would be difficult to power cycle if necessary. Overall: Highly recommend.

Tripp Lite HDMI Balun
I have used Tripp-Lite's baluns in several projects including residential, commercial and houses of worship. They are very reliable and simple to use. They do require power at both the send and receiving unit which can be problematic if the receiver is supplying signal to a projector. On each receiving unit there is a pot that can be adjusted with a philips head screwdriver to tune in the signal, so be aware of that if you get your system set up and the picture is not clear. At the locations I have installed these I have never had to go back to replace one of the units some have been installed well over a year.

Provides HDMI over extended range
I had a 50' run of HDMI cable that connected my BlueRay and DirecTV with the BenQ projector I had in my den. Unfortunately, the BenQ died after many years and I bought a new BenQ 910 (great projector). Unfortunately, new projector wouldn't accept the BlueRay/DTV video. I had 100' of Cat 6 Ethernet cable in place so I bought the Tripp Lite extenders. It took a few minutes to adjust the Tripp Lite units so that they would sync to both the BlueRay and DTV units but once completed, there is no more adjustment. The picture has brilliant color and excellent brightness and I enjoyed the NFL playoff games with a 100" screen. Good buy.

Tripp Lite B126-1A1 HDMI Over Extender - DON'T WORK WITH DIGITAL AUDIO FOR SURROUND SOUNDS!!!!
WORKS GREAT!!! Used with a 75 feet CAT 6a and bam!! great image and sound!! I bought this cheap HDMI Extender over Cat5e or Cat6 Cables - Up To 30 Meters (98 Feet) - Fixed 10" HDMI Cables ARE Included - Cat5e or Cat6 Cables NOT Included extender and never got it to work. And I used cat 6 cables with just 3 feet to test. So, very frustrated, I decided to spend a little more and buy something from a company that has a name. As I have already bought other products from Tripp lite and they worked like they should, I knew I wasn't doing wrong and now I am glad that I can run cables inside my walls and get full signal, with audio and video 1080p 60hz. It really works. Period. Tested and approved! You can't go wrong with it. Don't bother looking for any other extender. This is the one you need. Go for it! UPDATE February 2012 - only used four times, then stopped working Well, as I am organizing all my cables, I bought cat6a and run them connecting one room to the living room. Used the same cable I tested and worked with the tripp lite unit and after all those works and annoyance, I finally sat on the sofa to try and enjoy a movie. Plugged everything and got no connection. Thought that I accidentaly broke a cable during the fixations, but both router and switch got signal from the cable. Unplugged the tripp lite and tried with another cable, much shorter and no signal at all. The unit lights up green but get no yellow lite indicating it has stabilish a connection. So frustrated I can't even express... Will try to contact tripp lite and update the review... Will rate only one star because it didn't last 4 attempts to watch TV/Movies... :-( UPDATE March 2012 - solved partially the problem Continuing my review, I tried to contact Tripp lite and only got an automated response on my email and nothing more. Anyway, I discovered that at least in my unit, the manual is wrong in two things: FIRST, the lights only lit up if everything is connected. The manual says that if you get a connection over the cat cables the unit lit. Not in my case. I got the lit up only connecting the hdmi cable. But it is working... AND SECOND, the manual says it works with stereo audio (default) or 7.1 channel after pressing the audio button on the local unit. I can't get DTS tracks to my receiver and DOLBY only is recognized as MULTI-CH... I don't care how my receiver (denon 4806ci) recognizes, I want my surround sound. And 95% of my movies are DTS... so it is useless for me. Now I decided to spend more money buying a new 75 feet hdmi cable. I am completely unsatisfied with this unit. If you need to run the cables to only transmit video and stereo audio (like to a projector or to a TV) it works great. But to transmit the full hdmi signal with digital audio to your receiver, IT WON'T WORK. ONLY BUY IF YOU DON'T NEED TO TRANSMIT DIGITAL AUDIO TO A RECEIVER!!!

Works but is picky about CAT5e/6 cable
A reasonably priced, well made product, however initially, this did not work with my existing in-house CAT5e so I tried a couple other cables: The cables that did not work (even after adjusting the EQ pot): * Belden-M Datatwist CAT5e bulk cable, 50-ft (terminated by me but tested with Paladin cable tester) * Comtran CAT6 bulk cable, 65-ft (terminated by me but tested with Paladin cable tester) * Aurum Cat5e Cable, 75 Ft (factory terminated) The cables that did work: * Belkin CAT5 (not 5e) Patch Cable, 6-ft (factory terminated) * Belkin CAT5e Patch Cable - 50 ft (factory terminated) * Belkin CAT5e Patch Cable, 75-ft (factory terminated) In the middle of my testing, I called Tripp-Lite and was impressed by the attitude of their technical support which answered my call quickly, politely, and without 'canned' answers. At my relatively short distance, they believed that any compliant CAT5e or CAT6 cable should work and suggested that I reconnect and power-up everything following the prescribed sequence. I did so and found the sequence was irrelevant to my tested cables; in fact the cables that worked could be swapped in any order and they still worked. In the end, I re-cabled the run underneath the house with the Belkin 50-ft CAT5e, factory terminated cable, and everything seems to be working great: awesome, clean, jitter-free picture. I have a similar Atlona HDMI-over-CAT5 product and if I needed to do this again, I would want to consider if a $200 premium for the professional-grade Atlona would be worth the hassle of the Tripp-lite. $200 is a lot of money... but so is buying a bunch of test cables and spending time to crawl under the house.

Fail annually - two stars is probably generous
I want to review these units at three stars, but I just can't, mainly because I've had to purchase one of these every year since 2012: First set - installed by contractor - Fall 2011. Second set (my first purchase) was March 2012 when the picture failed. Third set (second purchase) was September 2013. Fourth set (third purchase) was June 2014. They fail *that* often. When they work, they're awesome. When they fail, which they invariably will, they fail catastrophically and your only recourse is to purchase a new set. Of course both units (sender and receiver) aren't typically broken, but diagnosing which unit is broken is impossible, so ordering a new pair is the only way to ensure you're going to have everything you need to get your AV system (or whatever these are supporting) is back up and running. I really like what these units enable me to do, I just wish they were a lot less fragile. It's really inexcusable.

Product just works and works well! (but died after 8 months)
I am migrating to sharing HDMI between multiple TVs from the old school method of just using RF modulation. The Amazon reviews on this item had me skeptical that this would work properly, but since it was one o the few offering that gave both local and remote simultanious viewing of the HDMI signal over a single line of Cat5e, I took the plunge. Upon receipt, I connected both sides and BAM the system works flawlessly, I didn't even have to touch the POT or do any sort of setup. I know there are some reviews that claimed this doesn't work but I've ben watching the remote side for the last 3 hours solid without even the slightest glitch. My house is cabled with home run distributions of Cat5e (self-installed) which made the installation a breeze and the picture on both the local and remote TVs is perfect. I am using the extenders with a satellite receiver configured for 720p mode since that is the native resolution of both the local and remote TV. The total length of the Cat5e run is 70 feet. In general, as long as you have good quality Cat5e or better rated cable, this should work perfectly. ======================================= UPDATE: It is now June 2013 or roughly 8 months later since I bought this product in Nov 2012 and the unit has died on me. All the LED indicators are illuminating on the units but no video or audio signal is passing to either the local or remote TV. I've contacted Tripp-Lite to obtain an RMA and will update here with my experience after I go through the headache of shipping it back for repair under the 1 year warranty. I previously gave the product a 5 star but now I'm reducing this rating to a 3 star since I only got 8 months before it quit working. When it works, it works great - I just would expect the product to last at least 3-5 years at this price point. ======================================= UPDATE2: Be careful with Tripp-Lite - I purchased this unit through the Amazon warehouse deals and Tripp-Lite refused to honor the warranty becasue the product was sold as 'used'. So if you are purchasing this as a used product, just be aware that Tripp-Lite will *NOT* honor any warranty on it. Fortuantely, Amazon's customer service is much better!
