Can’t open them. What should I do to make the lid easy to open/remove?

They make 2 lids, one loose and one tight, I guess because of issues with the plastic’s tendency to draw in between the corners in the molding. The loose lids are quite loose and need a little dab of silicone etc to stay on, the tight ones are really tight. Maybe lubricate or file the corners just a touch?
