## Overview

Jacquard iDye Poly Blue is a concentrated, dissolvable fabric dye designed for synthetic textiles like polyester and nylon. It delivers vibrant, uniform color through a simple stovetop process, revitalizing garments, accessories, and even 3D printed objects. Ideal for DIY enthusiasts seeking professional-grade results and creative two-tone effects on blended fabrics.

## Description

iDye Poly is for synthetic fibers such as polyester and nylon. It will color almost anything synthetic, including plastics and acrylics, buttons, Frisbee discs, 3D printed objects, toys, dolls, wigs, urethane coatings and more! The dye comes in a dissolvable packet, so there are never any messy powders to handle: simply drop the packet in a pot of water, add your fabric or objects and bring to a boil! For fabric blends containing blended fabrics that contain both synthetic and natural fibers, use iDye Natural with the corresponding iDye Poly color at the same time. Or use a two different complementing colors to create a two-tone effect.

Review: Defies expectation! - So I love my sofa but it was a freebie and the colour, though lovely, isn’t me. I’d been thinking of re-covering it but it’s a great fabric and I thought if only I could just dye it… I’m no stranger to dyeing natural fibres but I’ve always seen synthetics as beyond my reach so I looked into those fabric paints you can buy that people often use to change the colour of chairs and sofas, but the finish always looks patchy and it takes forever and multiple coats, etc, I didn’t fancy that. So I decided to try experimenting with synthetic dyes. The manufacturer stresses that for it to work your dye bath needs to be at near boiling temperatures for a prolonged period for the dye to bond with polyester, I think you’re essentially melting the dye into the plastic fibres. It’s strongly advised that use a stovetop method, however these are big pieces of fabric and I don’t have pots that big enough. There’s a 90* wash on my machine though so I figured it was worth a bash for £7. It was an agonising two and a half hours excitedly waiting to see if the dye would take but I am thrilled to report that it did. It was as easy as putting a wash cycle on, the dye is in powder form and comes in a soluble packet so I chucked that in the drum, emptied the contents of the colour activator in with it and a tiny squirt of washing up liquid just to help get the dye into the pile of the velvet. It did dye some of the plastic elements in the drum and I wouldn’t advise putting the dye in your detergent drawer as this might also change colour. But if I understand correctly that dye shouldn’t leach out, it’s now permanently bonded with the plastic so no drama there. I can’t say how durable it is in practice but based on that premise it should last just as well as whatever the original colour was. This is not for the faint hearted but if you’re open to the possibility it might not work out go for it! I’m ordering more now and will have to tackle removing the fixed upholstery from my sofa so that I can repeat the process for the whole thing. Think it all through before you set out, be prepared for what could go wrong and might just end up with something beautiful!
Review: My wife used this on some synthetic cushion and she was over the moon with the results - Best dye ever

## Features

- Causes serious eye irritation.
- Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
- May cause an allergic skin reaction.
- VIBRANT COLOUR FOR SYNTHETIC FABRICS: Specifically formulated to achieve rich, uniform blue colour on polyester and nylon textiles, which are often difficult to dye. This iDye Poly packet also works effectively on some plastics, acrylics, and blended fabrics containing a high percentage of synthetic fibres, opening up a wide range of creative DIY projects.
- SIMPLIFIES THE DYEING PROCESS: The dye comes in a dissolvable packet, which you add directly to a pot of water on the stove. This design reduces handling of loose powders, helping to minimise mess and clean-up time. Just add the fabric, bring the water to a simmer, and follow the instructions to transform your synthetic textiles with a new, even colour.
- REVITALISE AND CUSTOMISE YOUR ITEMS: Breathe new life into faded polyester clothing, athletic wear, or nylon accessories. Use this blue fabric colourant to upcycle existing garments, create custom costumes, dye 3D printed objects, or add a personal touch to home furnishings like curtains or cushion covers. An accessible option for DIY fashion enthusiasts and crafters.
- ACHIEVE UNIQUE EFFECTS ON BLENDS: When used on polyester-cotton blends and other mixed fibre textiles, iDye Poly will only colour the synthetic fibres, leaving the natural ones untouched. This allows for the creation of interesting two-tone, heathered, or vintage-style visual effects. For a solid colour on blends, use with iDye for Natural Fabrics (sold separately).
- CONCENTRATED FORMULA FOR APPLICATION: Each 14g packet contains enough concentrated dye to colour up to 1.3 kg of dry fabric. For consistent colour, this product is designed for stovetop use in a stainless steel or enamel pot. The package includes the dissolvable dye sachet and a colour intensifier, providing the necessary components for the standard dyeing process.
