The BEST traction device ever invented!
I use these on all my vehicles but initially bought them for my BMW. Chains tear up delicate sensors and can do damage to the suspension parts, so are not recommended by BMW. And, if you've ever been stranded somewhere trying to put chains on in the cold- it's a nightmare! Enter the Auto Sock. When I purchased my first pair, I don't think many knew about them in my area. They were so easy, but how could they work so well? I was able to drive up hills with ice, in my little car, while 4X4's were spinning out all around me WITH snow tires on! The look on the other drivers faces was priceless! As a nurse, when I get called in to work, I can't say no due to snow and ice- I have to be able to get off my hill. These make that possible, and do it with ease. I even use them on my Subaru for even better traction on icy surfaces. They give me such piece of mind that I recommend them to everyone I know. With a recent large snow storm, my city was paralyzed. I actually gave my old pair (8 years old, used many times with only a dime sized hole in them) to a young woman who couldn't get up my hill and had been trying to for over an hour. I think they were a little big for her tires, but her smile as she drove off easily was worth the effort. If where you live ever gets snow or ice, get these- no matter what type of vehicle you use. They truly are the easiest things to put on and pull off. They are very durable, and the same price as chains. And, I've never seen a snow sock laying in the middle of the road like I do chains. Another plus is unlike snow tires that take up a large amount of room in the garage, they also don't tear up the roads when the pavement is dry. I wish they made these mandatory for people who don't have experience driving in snow- there would be a lot less accidents and stranded motorists out there. If you are looking for a great birthday or Christmas present for your kids going off to college, or anyone you care about- these are not sexy and probably not on anyones's list, but they are a great gift that will keep someone safe.

Snow Socks or Sorcery?
AutoSock for Passenger Vehicles HP697 – I was skeptical—snow socks? Really? I imagined some guy in a lab coat thinking, “What if we just put giant mittens on tires?” But desperate times call for desperate measures, and after getting stuck in my driveway for the third time, I figured, why not? Installation – A Winter Olympics Event The instructions said “easy to install.” Lies. I looked like a confused penguin trying to put socks on an alligator. But after some trial, error, and a few choice words, I got them on. Performance – Witchcraft on Ice! The moment of truth—I hit the road, expecting to slide into a mailbox like a holiday disaster movie. But nope! These things gripped the road like a caffeinated squirrel on a tree trunk. I drove past SUVs stuck in the snow like I was in a commercial. Who’s laughing now, Todd with your fancy all-wheel drive?! Durability – Not Made for NASCAR Now, let’s be real. These aren’t meant for high-speed joyrides. They’re temporary, so if you drive on dry pavement too long, they’ll shred faster than my New Year’s resolutions. Final Verdict If you need a quick, magical solution for snow and ice, these things work shockingly well. Just don’t expect them to last forever or be easy to put on when your fingers are frozen. – Would absolutely buy again, and will probably still struggle putting them on.

Very good
Purchased these for a trip into the mountains to Snowboard. In pervious seasons I had an Audi with winter tiers and that is the benchmark with which I judge the AutoSock. My current vehicle (2020 Mazda Cx9 AWD) comes with 20" tires and very low wheel well clearance. That means chains are out of the question and with the trip being last minute, winter tires weren't an option. The AutoSock seemed like a great option and after a little resesrch online I pulled the trigger. Fastforward to the weekend. Time to head up to the slopes. Road conditions are sketchy but not the worse I've experienced. Midway thought the drive conditions degrate to a thin layer of snow and ice on the road and I started experiencing small slips. I pull love to fit the sock. I was very impressed with how quickly they install. Fitting sock to both front tiers, move forward a few inches, and fitting the rest took all of 90 seconds. As expected the ride was smooth and the slipping stopped completely. We arrived up the mountain with no issue. I did notice that the left sock was half off the tire when I parked. I'm not sure if that happened during the drive or when I turned around to back into the spot. At the end of the day when it was time to go a major storm was in progress and about 6" of snow had fallen. The parking lot was a mess and many MANY vehicals were unable to leave. More than a few others with chains were able to leave but only after being dug out of their spot and push assisted to get going. I on the other hand was able to get out of my spot unassisted and with little to no wheel spin. Getting down the mountain was an exercise in skill and patience but happened with little difficulty. There were a few small slips of the rear during tight turns on steep grades but nothing unexpected or difficult to deal with. On the way down we passed 2-3 cars being pulled out of ditches. We arrived home safely and without incident. After this single trip the left sock was in excellent shape. The right sock however (the one that slipped off) was completely torn through in multiple spots and will need replacing. This tearing definitely happened during the return trip, likely from the few minor slips that happen on steep turns. At the end of the day, the socks were easy to install, easy, to remove, had a smooth ride, got me through conditions where other cars (even those with chains) struggled. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone who goes into sketchy conditions regularly. I intend to purchase snow tires next season. But for those who go occasionally and/or rarely encounter conditions that require extra traction I think they're a good option vs chains.

Easy to use and they actually work!
Absolutely saved my bacon while driving a load of scouts up to the mountain to go snowshoeing. Conditions suddenly turned treacherous and these were so easy to put on. I was back on the road in less than five minutes, and they were super easy without small parts to fiddle with in the cold. And they worked!

terrible! falls off once u start driving!
was very unpleased with my order! once we started driving, it immediately fell off! it’s not very safe at all, could resort to an accident, terrible! the fit is perfect, but it fell of ether way! i’m very angry, that i got robbed off $100 for it not to even work! luckily, i have a tesla, so i was perfectly fine, if u guys have teslas as well and want to go up to mammoth or bear, DO NOT think that u need chains or anything for ur tesla wheels, it’s perfectly fine, and u won’t slip, but for other cars i recommend NOT buying this! it’s horrible, and not safe for other drivers. this item could lead to ur wheels getting stuck with the item. recommend u to js get regular chains if u don’t have a truck etc. at bear they sell around $50 chains which WOULD NOT fly off or roll of while driving, and they are also quite easy to put on. if u don’t know how to, u could js ask them or watch a youtube video. but this item is very easy to store, unlike regular chains where u need more equipment. BUT overall, my experience with this item was HORRENDOUS, 1. it’s not safe, 2. it’s not affordable for how it even works. and 3. it’s falls of so quickly! i 100% don’t recommend! i would most likely invest in some chains instead!

Can't think of a reason for chains after these
I've read reviews on the durability of the tire sock versus chains. While I can't disagree with that, I can't really see the need for chains anymore after the introduction of the tire sock. Here's my reasoning. For me the tire sock is for occasional driving in snow. If I need more than occasional snow driving, then snow tires feel like the proper investment. Of course, there's cost to consider. So maybe there's a pricepoint where chains still make sense, and I'm just not seeing it. I don't live in an area where it snows often. I just visit sometimes. Last weekend, we took these up with us to visit a cabin in the mountains. I was kind of nervous about them because I grew up on tire chains, but these did just as well everywhere I encountered snow, and the literally could not be easier to put on. That part felt like having a fast-pass at Disneyland. I pulled into the turnout after people, had the tire socks on in under 2 minutes, and was back on the road. When we were heading down the mountain, same thing. I pulled into the turnout with all the other chain-toters. They're even easier to take off. What you really need to do is watch out for speed with these. With chains, you feel it, hear that you've got chains on. These are only rated to 30 mph just like chains, but unlike chains, they are quiet. We actually pulled over a few times just to make sure they were still on because the experience was so foreign. That whole center themselves thing is legit though. After 20 feet they were on better than I'd gotten them on. One more thing to watch out for other than speed... You have to take them off when you're done driving for the night or they will freeze and become useless. If they were hard to put on or take off like chains, I might think this was a deal breaker, but it didn't take much more time than putting the wipers up. They were pretty dirty, so while they didn't need to necessarily dry if I was going to put them back on the next morning, they did need a place to exist. I threw them in the bathtub, but next time, I think I'll bring a tote bin and just toss them in the trunk. They were personally too dirty to want to fold back up into the bag. Now that I'm home, I'll hose them off, let 'em dry then pack 'em back up till next time.

Great alternative to chains
I did not want to put chains on my BMWs 21” wheels so opted for these instead. Put auto socks on all 4 tires. This helped get us off the mountain and down I80 in blizzard conditions when other cars and trucks were spinning out. Easy to put on and take off. I highly recommend.
