After a few days of wearing a retainer for the first time in my life, I couldn't believe how nasty these things can be. But what I really couldn't believe is the complete lack of products designed to effectively clean these things. Although my dentist (and the manufacturer of the retainer) told me not to use denture cleaning products like Efferdent or breath fresheners like Scope, he didn't offer much of a solution. After Googling the problem and buying 6 different products, I was frustrated because none of them worked very well. Then I stumbled on this product and thought I'd give it a try. After the first cleaning - I was amazed. Not so much because it actually worked, but that it took so long to find a solution to a problem that has got to be very mainstream (I'm guessing there are a few million people out there who wear retainers for a variety of reasons). I don't know what's in this stuff, but it works better than anything I've found to date. It visibly cleans all buildup (might take a few potent cleanings), gets rid of the smell, and best of all, doesn't seem to harm the retainers with any harsh chemicals.I can't believe some large mainstream home care products company hasn't come up with a solution to this.
