## Overview

The Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree Down Sleeping Bag is a top-tier choice for 3-season camping and backpacking, featuring water-resistant 600-fill DriDown insulation, a lightweight design at just 2 lbs, and a host of comfort-enhancing features like a draft tube and insulated hood.

## Description

Simply put, Dridown represents the evolution of down insulation. Regular down is treated with a molecular-level polymer to create a hydrophobic finish on each individual down plume. This finish allows Drawdown to stay dry longer, loft better, and dry faster than regular down, keeping you warmer in any environment.

## Features

- Polyester
- Made in the USA or Imported
- The Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree sleeping bag is ideal for 3-season backpacking and camping. Water-resistant down insulation and an array of features make this sleeping bag a great combination of value and comfort.
- This sleeping bag is insulated with 600-fill DriDown. Renowned for efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, down has an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and continues to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation.
- Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry longer and dries faster.

- A polyester taffeta liner provides internal comfort. Other features include a small pocket to keep electronics handy and a naturally-shaped foot box.

Not the lightest, but by far the best value

*by C***L on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2021*

I've used this bag on 3 different nights so far backpacking. While it's not the lightest (the long weighing just under 3 pounds), it's light enough and compressible enough and most importantly warm enough. The coldest I've used it in is 28F and I was warm and cozy from head to toe. The other 2 nights were around the freezing mark as well. Keep in mind, they test the ratings of bags with a test dummy that has thermal tops and bottoms on, socks, a beanie, and on top of a sleeping pad with an r-value of 5.7. If you aren't wearing those things or have a lesser r-value pad, your results will vary. However, that's how I sleep and I was completely toasty and comfortable. I would feel safe taking it down to the 20 degree rating based on my experience. It fit perfectly in my pack, and the 300 dollars I saved buying this one over one that is a pound lighter was able to be spent on a good pad/pillow set up and a lighter tent.

Great quality for price and Kelty honors repair warranty, fantastic

*by J***D on Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2019*

New update: The zipper fell apart, and I contacted Kelty and sent the bag in for repair (shipping at my expense) and four weeks later I received the bag back (shipped at their expense) totally repaired and good as new. They stand by their warranty and their workmanship. Happy I got this bag.Edited review here, and old review in its entirety below:Everything below remains true, HOWEVER the zipper totally exploded. It has a tendency to get snagged, and one side of the zipper teeth was sort of kinked after I managed to work the zipper free from a snag in the middle of the night. When I pulled the zipper up again, it came free from the kinked side, completely - and when I tried to work the zipper down to the base and re-insert it, it totally fell off and there's no conceivable way to get it back on now. I don't know what to do - send it back to Kelty? It's really frustrating.Old title: Good value for a quality bag, with a couple caveatsFor the money, this Kelty Cosmic bag is great. It's lightweight, compresses down to the size of a large honeydew melon (I got a separate compression sack to pack it into) and warm(ish). Don't expect to stay warm in this bag at 20F - I found 30-35F about the coldest I'm willing to sleep in this bag, and that's with wearing base layers and a beanie. I'm also skinny and don't carry a lot of body fat - so as with all things, your mileage may vary. One thing I find mystifying about this Kelty bag is the density of the nylons chosen for the interior and exterior. The interior is 50D, and the exterior is 20D. Therefore, it's the exterior that is extremely soft, thin, and smooth. The interior feels thicker, less soft, and tougher, and you can feel every stitch with bare feet. WHY isn't the interior 20D and the exterior 50D? Wouldn't most people want the softer fabric on the inside, and the tougher fabric on the outside? Softer/thinner fabric = more prone to tears and rips. On the outside. Can anyone explain this?It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

    First real bag

*by D***. on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2022*

Okay, so this is my first 'real' sleeping bag I've gotten. Over ther years that I've been camping, I've really only slept in bags from Walmart and while they do okay, it's nothing to brag about. This bag however, at first glance, feel, and being covered by it... wow. The bag looks cool as hell and it's pretty toasty from first impressions (I zipped myself up in the apartment, not outside... yet.) I'm 5'10" 200lbs (think dad bod) and it's fairly roomy. I don't feel constricted and I'm actually able to turn on my side while inside of it which is a huge plus in my opinion. It's light when packed in its sack. The reason I bought this is because I wanted something I could use in my hammock as a quilt and still have a sleeping bag. It functions well as both.I've only given it 4 stars for the moment because I haven't truly tested the performance of it quite yet and plan on updating this review with further thoughts once I use it properly. Now, I dont come across many perfect things in my life and this is not one of them. It has some slight, VERY slight issues that MAY bother others: the zipper tends to be a little annoying when zipped down all the way, it's a little annoying (not hard) to get it zipping again, but once it's started it's great (simple solution: just don't unzip it ALL THE WAY... problem solved). Second thing that may bother someone (this is also my first mummy style bag so I'm not sure if most are like this) is that the hood doesn't cinch tight around your face unless you have a giant head (could be a perfect fit for my girlfriend) HOWEVER, this is far from a deal breaker. In conclusion for the moment, I highly recommend this to anyone who is considering buying this for their first bag based on first impressions. I do not expect it to be super toasty at 20 degrees but I don't plan on really being out when it's that cold anyway. Here in arkansas it's only that cold for about a month at night anyway. The price is great as well so it's worth a shot at least, worst case scenario is that you return it
