Works like a charm!
I was cautiously optimistic about this device..... but it works like a charm! Just plug it into the USB-C dash cam power port and route it down through the dash to the OBD-2 port and finish the installation. MUCH easier than one of the hardwire kits where you have to search the right fuse (or fuses) and mess with hooking all that up. I would recommend!

The look of a factory installation without the headache of dealing w. the fuse box
This is a hardwire charger cable designed to power dash-cams, radar detectors, and other USB-C devices directly from your vehicle's OBD or OBD2 port. This eliminates the need for connections to the car battery, fuse box, or cigarette lighter. It features two work modes: "ACC" for when you only want the device powered when your car is on, and "Surveillance" for always-on (for things like 24-hour parking monitoring). There is a switch to select which mode you want. It was really easy to just plug it into my car's OBD port to power my dash cam. Having to deal with the fuse box would have been a nightmare, since the fuse box isn't in the passenger cabin on my car (Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid). NOTE: the first one I received did not work in ACC mode, I had it replaced and the second one did work in ACC mode (where it provides power only when the car is ON). Pros: โ Easy and convenient power source directly from the OBD port โ Eliminates wiring to the fuse box (or cigarette lighter which is ugly) โ Switchable between two modes: ACC and 24-hour Surveillance โ Built-in low voltage protection shut off power draw to prevent car battery total drain โ USB-C compatible (can also convert to other USB types using a USB adapter cable) โ Simple to install - just plug it into the OBD port Cons: โ Reliability may not be great - my first one didn't work in ACC mode Overall, despite the issue with the first charger cable, I would still recommend this as a great solution to power a dash cam. The cable can be routed along the edge of the windshield keeping it out of sight like a factory install, which is much harder to do if you're plugging it into a cigarette lighter which is usually in the center console of your car. Get the look of a factory install without the hassle of dealing w. the fuse box.

Consider OBD Port location
I really did not want to tap into my fuses or hard wire in my dash cam, so this was a great solution and I loved the switch to change modes. There are only three connections. Two ground and a full time power so no risk of damaging the computer. Pay attention to the location/orientation of your OBD port and your situation. In one of my cars, it is directly above the emergency brake. The device will extend about 3/4" so you want to be careful you don't kick it. In my Ram truck the OBD points down, directly below steering column so work boots could definitely kick it. I suppose there is risk of damaging the port if kicked hard enough. Just something to consider. The two "modes" are a bit of a mystery. With only those 3 ports, how does it know if the car is on or not? It's not connected to the key/acc switch in any way. Best I can tell, it uses voltage. If the input voltage is above 12.8 volts, it assumes the car is running. If it drops below 12.8 volts it starts the 20 minute timer for "Acc mode" and shuts off. So it doesn't matter where the key is, only if the engine is running and putting out more than 12.8 volts. Still, very nice. The switch lets me turn on surveillance mode if I want it for a situation, but it is NOT a true "parking mode" on the camera. Since both both modes output the 5 volts the camera wants, it just keeps running as if you were driving, so you have video of your garage. Parking monitoring wasn't a big factor for me, but if it is, this may not be your best answer. Shutting off at 11.6 volts is nice though. That'll get your car started in most situations so you're not stranded. I've had other cameras drain the battery completely.

Faulty cable or garbage product? EDIT: 10/10 customer service
This power adapter constantly reboots the dashcam I bought it to power. It'll work for ~5 minutes then the dashcam powers off, restarts and works for ~2 minutes until repeating that cycle indefinitely. I tried powering the dashcam with a 12v adapter as well as a standard USB and both work flawlessly. This OBD adapter is the only power source that causes issues with my dashcam. Edit: The seller reached out and remediated the issues I had with the product. Their customer service is top notch and I can highly recommend them now!

False advertising.
I previously hardwired a dash cam in another car with a fuse tap. I bought the same dash cam for another car and thought I would save myself some time and effort messing around with the fuse box by just getting power from the OBD port with this cable. I wanted it for use in ACC mode only (when the engine is running) since I don't need parking mode and don't want to take a risk of draining my battery. I bought this OBD power cable specifically because it said that it could be set into ACC mode that would power off after 5 minutes (the included instructions say 20 minutes). I was a little suspicious of this so I tried it out. Over an hour later with the engine off and the ACC mode toggled on as shown in the instructions the cable was still providing power to the dash cam. After checking other reviews for OBD power cables it seems that a lot of these cables are 'always on' regardless of how you flip their switch. While that may be fine for someone who relies on the dash cam to sense a battery voltage drop and shut off, it is not ok if you just want the dash cam powered while you are driving. I'm going back to using the fuse tap method that I know works. This cable is flat out false advertising. UPDATE: The company reached out to me and did offer a full refund which I accepted.

Plug n Play
makes dashcam install a breeze , if your OBD port is easy access and you are not using for something else. this cord will make that install super simple with no splicing or home runs to fuse panels / battery.
