First hour using it, paid for itself and then some. I fixed 1 car and diagnosed my parents trucks
I bought this scanner for bi-directional controls, and to abs bleed my 03 Suburban Lt 5.3 Vortec that has a spongy brake pedal even with new lines, and MULTIPLE SHOPS ABS BLEEDING WITHOUT ANY IMPROVEMENT! They say it's the abs module underneath, which we replaced and still it happens. So the fix is, that they UNPLUG MY BRAKE SWITCH off the reservoir to eliminate the warning light on the dash. I CAN'T SELL MY CARS LIKE THAT. That should be illegal, and my name means you get quality products and service from me always. So I get this scanner to DIY myself and tinker with the abs bleed function. At first the scanner DIDNT WORK?! NO POWER OR ANYTHING! I figured maybe charging issue? Nope, doesn't need charging. So now what? My trucks and 03 suburban Lt with the 5.3 flex fuel engine and it's not reading the port. No power at all! Truck runs great! But the one cigarette lighter is dead and I get random warning lights but I'll clean grounds and issues fixed. Also my trucks brake light warning comes on and feels spongy at times and I replaced all lines and had multiple shops bleed and abs bleed Common issues with these trucks. So is the scanner bad?! Well I test my mom's 2013 f150 fx4 Ecoboost 3.5l crew cab. DEVICE TURNED ON INSTANTLY. Happen to find out her tpms was BAD and her tire was at 16psi. (Her truck doesn't have the live tire reading info like most vehicles offer). We would have had to test each tire for a reading instead of having this tool. Found a nail. Cool I'll plug it in no time with my Amazon tire patch kit. TESTED THE BI DIRECTIONAL CONTROLS, HERE IN HER TRUCK, it worked AMAZING! Tested locks and windows well as horn. It's so awesome! Next is my GFS 2015 crv ex. Scanned her car with no issues Go back to my truck, and I figured my obdii port is dead? Check my fuses and the cigarette lighter fuse was blown. So I replaced it immediately. Also plugged my brake switch in, that they unplugged after giving up. Guess what..... PORT WORKS NOW?! Scanner works INSTANTLY. I test and find 20+ faults. All with the transfer case, the door switch module, the bcm not reading modules anymore, etc. My brake warning light, GONE. So I take it for a test drive. BRAKES ARE SOLID NOW. Wtf ?! No issues there. Like new brakes. Cigarette lighter works now. Between the Brakes being fixed, the obd port being fixed, my parents tire got fixed faster, I learned all the issues I gotta kink out on my car and i can actually live data read and ACTIVE TEST each module! The insight I can pull on cars within seconds is astounding! THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE DEVICE!! I WANNA BUY EVERY CAR EVER MADE AND FIX EM. Well worth the $50 I got it for. Hands down. I feel like a master mechanic. I easily saved multiple trips borrowing scanners, or paying to have codes scanned and two hours of them tinkering, now I save all that moolah and they can't charge me since I GOT MY OWN TOOL NOW! WELL WORTH ITS PRICE, EVEN AT $89 IT WAS BEFORE MY DISCOUNT! I WAS JUST LUCKY TO GET A DEAL! NOT SAYING BUY IT, BUT ID HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GET ONE. THANK YOU TOPDON FOR A JOB DONE WELL!!

Excellent diagnostic tool, Excellent Price
I'm learning how to DIY repair my car. I already had a basic code reader. Last week, I needed to know more than just the basic codes read. When I ordered this, I was a little worried that the price was pretty low for the features I wanted. Would it really work? After downloading the software and trying it out, I'm thrilled with this. It may (or may not) impress a professional mechanic, but what a cool tool for a DIY'er! I would highly recommend this for anyone serious about fixing their own vehicle. Yes, there is an app and a 1 year free subscription. I already know I'll happily buy the annual subscription when the time comes.

Definitely buy it!
The Bluetooth capability means I can connect to my iOS and Android devices without any hassle, and the app interface is user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through the various features. What I particularly appreciate is the bi-directional scanning; it allows me to not only read trouble codes but also perform active tests, which is fantastic for pinpointing issues. One of the standout features is the yearly subscription, which provides full access to all the premium features, including repair guides and detailed diagnostics. The first year is complimentary, which is a great way to get accustomed to everything the scanner offers. After the first year, you have the option to continue the subscription for full access or stick with the basic functionalities—it still works perfectly fine without the perks, but having complete access is undeniably a huge benefit. The fact that it supports all systems diagnostics is a game-changer. Whether it’s for a simple code read or more complex issues, I feel empowered to handle a wide range of repairs. The performance tests and hot resets have also been handy for me, making the whole repair process smoother. In conclusion, if you're in the market for a reliable and versatile OBD2 scanner, and compatibility I highly recommend the TOPDON TopScan Lite. With its impressive features and ease of use, it’s definitely worth the investment. Plus, the annual subscription offers a chance to delve deeper into vehicle diagnostics without any upfront cost. This tool has made my automotive troubleshooting so much easier, and I can’t see myself going back!

DO NOT PURCHASE!!! Read this first. Be warned.
I don't remember who recommended me to purchase this thing. But it's such a crap omg. Not only you don't get that first free one year subscription (I've payed additional $50 for that subscription). But it also works very, like very bad. In short: 1) The app requires internet connection. You cannot use it without signing in, and it's an issue cuz it will drop your login session once in a while. And I don't have a stable WiFi connection in my garage, and it's such a PITA to use this app. 2) There's not all car brands. It works for Subaru, and for Mitsubishi. But there's no Lada (which is basically rebranded Renault). Like any no name $10 OBD from AliExpress will have that car brand supported. But not TopDon TopScan for $80 + $50 subscription. Oh my gosh. Double check if you're car brand is supported. 3) I've tested it with Subaru WRX STI 16", because I did a coolant flush and all I needed is to watch coolant temperature graph (when burping, in order to see when thermostat was opened/closed). But no matter what I do, there's no such data in TopDon. Be sure I've spent hours trying to find that information. Such a simple task cannot be done with TopScan. 4) Issues with connection. For some unknown reason, TopDon TopScan DOES NOT connects to your car. And sometimes it can't auto read VIN number. When it happens, you must enter your VIN manually. The connection is also very unstable, even if you're like in 1 meter away. 5) Eventually, it did not helped me. Thanks god I had a no name OBD from aliexpress, that I've purchased years ago for $10 or so. I've connected that thing instead of TopScan, and it successfully connected in a matter of seconds. That old no name OBD automatically read my VIN, detected the car brand, and just worked. I've had to click literally 2 buttons to access Coolant Temperature graph (updated in real time). By the end of the day, I was so disappointed. Maybe it's a good product for things like ABS brake bleeding etc. idk. Just sharing my experience, so you understand what you should expect in reality. Total waste of money and time.

Does Everything
Purchased this for a friend who always seems to have a check engine light. Tested it out before I gifted it to him. It set up super easy and after a couple minutes of playing with the app it is very easy to use. It scanned every module my car has and I was able to read and clear the codes very easily. In my opinion the best part of this scanner is the active tests. You can easily control almost everything thing in the car, from something as simple as turning on the fuel pump, to control the needles on the gauge cluster. If the component was controlled by a module this scanner was able to control it. I am very impressed with how much this thing can do and I will be buying one for myself very soon. My only complaint is I did have to contact customer support to get it unbinded to my account after I gifted it to my friend. And they do not make it clear that if you bind it to your account nobody else will be able to use it other than you. Other than that definitely recommend if you are looking for a very capable scanner for a very reasonable price.

Best car scanner you can buy
Works just like the blue driver, but better. Reset brakes, control door locks, windows, and a lot more.

Does a lot depending on the car
I am reviewing this for one vehicle at this time, a 2007 Subaru Forester X. I will get into the details about that in a bit but let's get general. It's free for the first year, but if it's still being used and you can catch a sale... But be smart, you can make another email. I would just buy a new unit on sale for like $60, BAM! You just got a new unit and another year. Some may be upset about the limitations, but let's be honest if it works for you it is still by far the cheapest I've found to do ANY bidirectional kung fu. It's ui isn't great, but poke around and you can get a hold of quite a bit. It will scan for your VIN, and then your model range or exact year. You can put it in manually but it finds mine quick so I haven't tried it. From what I see you need to scan the "BCM" or mini computer of each part. So you scan the main ECU and it will give you the general things which is pretty limited for me. It does offer many different cars and you download each individual car's database. So for my SUV it's old, but it does what I need. Kinda. So my main reasoning was the difficulty in getting my throttle body to relearn itself properly. It has an easy procedure if your A/C system is good, mine is not. Topscan says it can do the throttle relearn, but it simply gives instructions to restart, run for 10 seconds and it's done. It is not indeed done, nothing changed. The magic is to control your idle, which was why it needs to relearn the throttle but since that didn't work eventually if it's driven enough and isn't dying at every stop it relearns itself. So the trick is there is an idle adjustment. It's in a separate section, but it is rudimentary yet it'll do. So it starts off at whatever rpm your engine is by 25. So it tells me it's at 825rpm... It lies my tach an loping motor says under 600rpm. So here's what you do, there's the ability to add or subtract in denominations of 50 but the RPM accuracy isn't great so here's what I did. I put mine up to 1075 RPM and you press start. I believe it won't stop until you press the stop button. It 100% keeps my car from dying when coming to a stop or just any time the clutch is in and I'm not adding throttle it died in the before time, so last week. It's only been about 30 miles, so just to and from work so it hasn't learned itself yet. So Topscan... Again for me it's doing what I want, but it does seem kind of lacking otherwise. However, it's still all the stars because there is nothing comparably priced with the features. This ain't no mechanics thousand dollar scan tool, but for me I just remember... $60 vs $600-1200, SOLD! It can act like a normal code reader and such too, but here's why it's worth the extra $40 over an ELM327, it read and cleared my airbag code! Granted it came right back, but now I know it's my driver's airbag or the wiring for that one in particular. How much would a shop charge just to tell you that? Idk in this economy but less than that scanner & a year of big boy scanning included. Download the app before you buy, add your car and see what it will let you do for your car. I did and am not looking back! In a newer or different car it may be so much easier, but this is not simple for me at least. Totally worth it.

After one year, it's now requiring a subscription!
After one year, it's now requiring a subscription. It was great because of the "wireless" feature. I have a wired TopDon scanner and it's actually easier to use. Being wireless does allow me to be outside of the car to diagnose or run remote commands. It's also small enough to carry in my backpack. My wired version has a lifetime of updates without a subscription. I bought this because nowhere was it listed that it required a subscription. I was quite frustrated that it would not allow me to clear my DTC's today. Went from a 5 star down to a 2 star rating! Updating to 3 stars cause it let me use it once per day for free.
