Intricate details of all aspects of the human body down to the smallest detail - from our cells and DNA, to the largest bone in our bodies, the femur. 3D generated illustrations and medical imaging provide a close look at the body's forms and functions in physiology and anatomy, showing how the body works and its amazing systems and abilities. To understand our modern human bodies, this book first looks at our ancestors and how the evolution of Homo Sapiens shaped our anatomy. This gave us the ability to walk tall, create language, and make tools with our incredibly adapted apposable thumbs. Learn how we can see evolution in our DNA, and the functions of DNA. Read about the things you can only see with microscopes and other special imaging machines, like cell structure, motor pathways in the brain, and the inner iris. All these many parts work together to make the human body. The physiology of our body is written in clarifying detail. Learn about the organs and systems that operate within, such as the cardiovascular, digestive, and neural systems. See our elegant anatomy and read how the skeleton, muscles, and ligaments operate to allow movement. This second addition has included more detail on the joints in the hands and feet. The Complete Human Body takes you from infancy to old age showing how our body grows and changes, and what can go wrong. 2nd Edition: Enhanced and Updated This visual guide uses remarkable illustrations and diagrams to let you peek inside our complex and astounding bodies. It has been written in an easy-to-follow format, with straightforward explanations to give you the best overview of the many things that make us human. Wonderful book
I have no formal human biology education past 16 but I do have an interest in learning more about it and often find myself reading up on various things. It's really nice to have a book that gives a more complete and coherent view than cherry picking random Wikipedia articles When researching elsewhere I often find myself in too deep with medical terminology in order to get the information I want, or it's just not possible for me to find (the name of a muscle, for example). This book is very clear and easy to understand with good diagrams and I like the organisation. It presents things at a high enough level to keep me satisfied without getting too complex for my knowledge level. I feel that it would suit a range of audiences e.g. good for children and adults without being too difficult or condescending to either. Occasionally I find myself wanting more detail about things but I think that overall it does well on this front.

Amazing Quality
This book is amazing quality so I feel that the price is somewhat justified. It is quite a large, thick book with lot's of detail and beautiful colourful illustrations. This will be fantastic for somebody who is interested in learning foundation/intermediate level knowledge about the human body but may not be suitable for somebody who requires more in depth advanced level information. I really like it though and highly recommend it.

Excellent Illustrations and indepth information.
The moment you handle this book you will be surprised at its weight and you immediately get excited and the amount of content it must have inside. When you open it up and do your first quick scan you will find it hard to just flick fast through the pages as the amazing color illustrations grasp your attention. If your looking to learn a little or a lot about the human body and anatomy then this book is very appealing, especially for those of you that appreciate highly detailed illustrations that really get that visual memory up and running. I would say that this is suitable for family, young and old and even those studying around A-level biology or human anatomy and physiology, with a layout that is clean and concise which is very helpful if you looking for something packed with information that doesn't have over crowded content. Enjoy. Arran Lewis

So good - I bought one!
Started a Podiatry course in September and so needed a decent anatomy book illustrating bones/blood vessels/nerves etc. Came across this book in my local library (brand new/first lender) and found the computerized imagary/illustrations brilliant and clear. It doesn't show every detail (e.g. not all the foot muscles are shown or listed - hence 4 stars rather than 5) but for general anatomy I think its great. I kept renewing the book for 3 months and decided to purchase it! And I'm not big on buying books.....recommendation enough I think.

Monster size tome!
Hadn't realised it would be quite that big and heavy, but wonderful reference book for diving into detailed areas of the body. The only thing I would have liked and it probably wasn't appropriate for this book was to be able to 'pan out' a bit more sometimes to see how the bits joined up! For example, following the path of the vagus nerve, but that probably needs a different book. There is a lot to learn about the body and it is all fascinating. This is a wonderful pictorial start!

AMAZING BOOK!
I bought this book because I needed to study anatomy for my foundation degree in Sport and Exercise Science and was needed something to study anatomy and physiology. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised , for the price to it covers everything I needed to learn but so much more! It is like the human bible. Studying now is so much more fun! Also it is easy to undertand , highly recommended.

Kindle edition help
Other reviews noted that in the Kindle edition text was too small to read. A work around is to use the Windows snip tool (windows key Shift S) to capture a page. Then you can magnify the page in the snip tool using Ctl++. You can get amazing detail by doing this. The illustrations are very good & in the magnified views you can see a great level of detail.

PERFECT
I am very happy :) I didn't expect that it would be such an amazing book. I expected it would be great, but this is actually more than great. Honestly, it's the best medicine book I have ever bought and the price is really cheap. I highly recommend it.
