Compact and reliable USB hub
I am a big fan of this USB hub. I got one for free at work and loved it so much that I bought a second one on Amazon. Cable Matters is my go-to for USB hubs! This little hub is compact and allows you to connect three USB devices and one Ethernet cable at the same time. I use it for my wireless mouse and to charge my phone, and I have even used all four ports simultaneously with no issues. It is super easy to use, just plug it into a USB port on your computer. Note that this version is not USB-C, so you would need a different version for that. It is very small, easy to carry in the pocket of my backpack, and extremely reliable. I have had it for three months with no connection or heat issues. Highly recommend for anyone who needs both a mouse and Ethernet connection on their laptop.

USB hub works better than most.
The nic is reliable, the size is great, the build it solid plastic, and the cable may be short for some. However, this is the best usb nic/hub I've found so far. I use the nic, and then a wireless keyboard, usb sound card, and USB DVD to create a mini-docking station. I've had some USB nic/hubs recently that have not reliably connected my USB sound card, others that seem to interfere with the wireless keyboard, and most allow the mechanical sound of the DVD to bleed into my headphones. This hub doesn't have any of those issues and is working flawlessly.

Defective.
I purchased this item about a month ago. The USB ports work perfectly. However, the ethernet port (the reason I bought the item in the first place) does NOT work anymore. It worked for about three weeks and all of a sudden it stopped working. When I attempted to return the item for a replacement I was just one day outside of Amazon's return policy. I would expect it to last longer than 3 weeks. Very dissatisfied. Do not purchase if you need it to work longer than that.6/8/2020 Edit- I received a replacement from the seller with a new adapter that works perfectly so I am updating my review to 5 stars because of the immediate response and desire to resolve my concerns. Definitely will purchase from them again since it looks like I will be working from home for awhile.

"Supports only one external bus-powered hard disk drive connection"
The headline says it all - well almost. I watch a lot of movies and use the Apple SuperDrive with my MacBook Air. I plugged the Cable Matters 3-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 hub into the MBA and the SuperDrive ejected the disk and said it needed power to be plugged directly into the MDA USB 3.0 port. I tried each of the USB ports and none did the trick. I other words there isn't enough juice there to run the SuperDrive. Just wanted you to know.I think cable matters makes high quality products and this is one of them. I know the power is limited by the USB buss but I think it would be better to designate one USB port for FULL power and mark it as such and designate the others as un-powered.I haven't tried the Ethernet port yet.

Works exactly as needed
Running small PC with Windows Server 2012. I was able to get this unit and its drivers installed very easy and confirm the LAN driver was working as well as the devices connected vis USB.I did go to the CableMatters website and find the drivers based on the model of USB device. It redirects you to a RealTek driver site where you are forced to enter an email address in order to download the drivers. This was the only part of this product I did not like. One note: I noticed that a drive had auto-mounted on my server. Clicking on this I found the installer which then activated the LAN. AfOtherwise, it works as advertised.

Works as expected
This adapter works without any issues on a Microsoft Surface Laptop 2, which only has a single USB 3.0 (Type-A) port and no internal ethernet jacks. - No drivers were required, and we were able to push an OS image (over the network) using a bootable flash drive connected to the same hub/adapter. - No build quality issues or concerns.I especially like the fact that this adapter has link lights on the ethernet jack, which makes troubleshooting/confirming connections easy.Review will be updated once it has been further tested with other products/devices.

SUPAFAST INTERNETS
Got this for my 2013 MacBook Pro retina which only has 2 usb ports and no Ethernet port. I often make large uploads and downloads of 10-50 gb and being able to plug directly into your router makes a huge difference. I was able to get just about 100% of my promised internet speeds when plugged into this. At 200 mbps that 50 gb upload will take an hour or so vs a couple of days.Having extra usb ports is great too, haven't had to use them yet but happy to know I won't have to sacrifice an external hard drive when i need another peripheral.Definitely something I carry in my computer bag all the time. Also very useful for initial setups of routers/modems if your someone who likes to do it yourself.I was able to achieve the pictured speeds using this adapter and a CAT 5e cable plugged directly into my modem/router combo.

No fuss, fast and WORKS!!
Having had another Ethernet connection which didn’t work with an OTG adaptor, this usb Ethernet hub workers as soon as I plugged it in. Tested the speed and works great. A just for higher broadband spores from this brand.

Useful
Got this for my Google TV device. Expands the single USB port to 3 and adds an ethernet port so I can skip the wifi.
