What you get is in the product pictures. The description saids the base should be anodized aluminum, and it shows an aluminum base with the edges folded down to fillet them, but the actual base you get looks like what's in the product pics--I'm not sure it's even aluminum, perhaps a thick acrylic? Regardless, it's flat and works fine.I was debating getting this vs what was the best selling version on Amazon at this time and I'm glad I chose this. I like this very much.The soldering iron that was originally made to go with the press is apparently not availableThe substituted soldering iron heats VERY well.However, the supplied screws for the clamp that is meant to hold this new iron are not long enough, since the body of the iron is thicker and tapered, where the original must have been thinner and without a taper.I have not been able to use the press because I have not received the longer screws that I ordered, however, I have used the soldering iron and the insert-bits.
