Wind resistant, waterproof and easy to start. The Ferro rod is a questionable tool in this kit. It very short. And, really doesn't get the job done very easily. I recommend looking around for a better, easier option. The Big Foot Fire starter has a ferro rod that works much, much easier and, much better. And, their fire starter plugs are quit similar. Just a different color from what I can tell. I also bought the Black Bear waterproof/windproof matches. Those things a MAGIC! They are about 6 inches long and have a fairly good burn time. I purchased a pack for my son and daughter in law. To keep in their cars. We live in Alaska.
