It turns out that literally none of these things are actually selling points.Let's start with the fan. Powerful is not the word I would use. Noisy? Yes. Annoying? Yes. Efficient? No. Useful? No. Able to do its job? No. For reference, I made the decision to return these when I watched a fruit fly walk across the intake grate of the supposedly powerful fan, without being sucked in or even bothered at all. In fact I watched a few fruit flies and gnats fly around and even almost into the thing, without being sucked in. On the rare occasion that it does suck something in, there's only about a 20 or 30% chance of that bug actually getting stuck. This is partially due to the sticky tape which i will talk about in the next part, but also the fan exhaust stops a little bit above the sticky paper. So quite often, due to the incredibly low power fan, bugs will just fly in to the exhaust chamber without landing on the sticky paper, and fly right out through the exhaust holes in the side. Literally the only way this thing works is if a insect decides to fly down into the machine and land on the sticky paper.Okay brief section about the sticky paper, it's not very sticky, and it doesn't cover most of the bottom. It's more like they bought a bulk set of sticky tape inserts that kind of sort of fit in the bottom but definitely we're not designed for it. I watched a couple of flies actually get themselves off of this sticky tape/paper and fly away. So far the score is flies: 2, flycatcher: 0.And then what's the deal with this variable wavelength light BS? As far as I can tell, all it does is change it to various levels of dimness every 15 minutes, and that doesn't seem to have any effect on attracting any particular type of bug. Although I guess it's hard to tell since none of them stick around to be identified but... I think it's pretty pointless and a useless selling point.Finally, the test against conventional methods. I have a zevo blue light sticky trap. It has no moving parts, no fans, no exhaust great, just a blue light and some sticky gel. I plugged the zivo unit in about 8 ft away from this unit and left them both powered on overnight. The zevo unit had a couple dozen bugs stuck to it either dead or dying, while only one bug was in the electric trap.Not only is this thing not what it advertises itself to be, it is markably worse than literally any other solution on the market. Stay away at all costs. With some mosquito pellets and the this Dunaga bug catcher our house is fly free! I give it 4 stars because it could be a little more powerful. It sucks the bugs in but sometimes when you open it some little bugs fly out still and are not stuck to the sticking pad.
