Excelent cycling computer with some querks
I used this for my route on a bike tour, and on the tour it was great! However cycling about my home area it gets iffy. Mostly if i divert from the planned route at all! Like I will follow a generated route and it wants me to cross a highway just to do a 30 foot loop and rejoin the highway... Ok i'll just not do that and just turn down the highway and ride the shoulder.... Well how dare I do that!!!! It will then proceed to try everything in its power to loop me back to that highway and have me cross it. If i Ignore the first re route it will then just plan a massive loop back to the spot it wants me to correct Ignoring the fact that I'm currently on the Route I just skipped that little loop! Other then that it's been great, works with all my sensors, seems to track speed fine even if my sensor is dead. Its overpriced for sure but i think the software it comes with makes up for the value some. The battery life is decent it will at least last several hours like 8 no problem!

Bigger learning curve then Wahoo but it packs more features
I was so close returning this, My sensor were dropping connection, GPS would not work, my friend told me to do factory reset and it works like a charm ever since. I did a 100 mile ride the other day and the battery is still over 75%. Little harder to use since it’s more packed with features compared to Wahoo Roam, but starting to like this more and more!

Solid Computer
Simple to use. Brightness is good, solar charging is a bonus. Touch screen would be nice, but for the price... can't complain.

Awesome little bike computer
This bike computer is so cool. It quickly connects to my heart rate monitor and power meter, finds the GPS signal, and is good to ride for hours. I use it with both my indoor trainer and road bike, and it has multiple riding profiles that makes it easy to switch between the two in just a few seconds. The large display is easy to read quickly while riding, even in direct sunlight or shade.

A Game Changer For Sure!
Best decision I’ve made so far! I am absolutely thrilled with my new Garmin Edge 540 cycling computer! From the moment I started using it, I've been incredibly happy with its performance and the wealth of features it offers. It has truly revolutionized my cycling experience and significantly contributed to improving my performance on every ride. One of the greatest standout features, and something my previous unit sorely lacked, is the hill climbing feature. Knowing what's coming, how much elevation is left, and being able to pace myself accordingly has been an absolute game-changer. It's an invaluable tool for optimizing my effort and tackling climbs with a newfound strategy and confidence. This alone makes the 540 worth every penny. Before purchasing, I was aware that the Garmin Edge 540 was not a touchscreen unit like the 840, but honestly, this was not a huge issue for me. The button interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, even with gloves on, and I've found it to be incredibly responsive and reliable. The clarity of the display and the ease of use have far outweighed any desire for a touchscreen. Beyond the fantastic hill climbing feature, I've thoroughly enjoyed utilizing all the other capabilities of the 540. From precise GPS tracking and clear navigation prompts to detailed performance metrics and seamless integration with my other sensors, every feature works flawlessly. I'm constantly impressed by how much data I can access and how effectively it helps me analyze my rides and pinpoint areas for improvement. To any cyclist considering a new computer, I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend the Garmin Edge 540. If you're looking for a robust, feature-rich, and incredibly reliable device that will genuinely help you elevate your cycling performance, look no further. This is a product that delivers on all its promises and then some!

Aunque aun lo ando probando aún, como siempre, los dispositivos garmin cumplen con las expectativas, en este caso el 540 está en el umbral de la gama alta con todas las prestaciones del 840 salvo por no ser de pantalla táctil....

Received my Garmin Edge 540 and have done ~5 rides with it now. It is a 5 star product (from my limited use so far), but there are a few things to note... The Good: --------------- - You can configure the display screen to show the stats you care about. I have the max showing (10 stats), and find it is easily readable when you glance down. - It comes with the ability to mount in on your stem or in front. I prefer in front - I can do multiple rides with one charge, so you don't need to recharge after every ride (of course, depends how long you ride for - Seemed to be no issue on a rainy day when I was out, and on really sunny days. This is well made and no issues in the conditions I have rode in so far. (Note have not done any really 'dark' conditions yet) The Bad: --------------- - Remember to power it down completely after your side is done (and saved), so it conserves the battery. I did not the first time, and assumed when it went to power save mode/screen went blank, it would conserve power. Instead, when I was about to ride 2 days later, it was at zero power. Had to spend 15 minutes to get it to ~20%. So just make sure you power off when you are done. - When doing the "hill climbs" on it (where it prompts you that you are on a known climb), there seems to be a lag from when it realizes you are on the hill, and a lag when you are done. Nothing major, maybe ~5-10 seconds difference. But it is noticable. Other Notes: --------------- - If you connect to a Garmin Varia, the first time it will ask you to update the radar software. It takes about 8 minutes. While you can skip this and ride, I just recommend you plan for this and connect them ~10 minutes before you ride OVERALL --------------- I would recommend this for any cyclist who wants a computer on their bike. The few cons I have seen so far are minor vs how well it works in general. Note I have this connected to a Garmin Varia read radar/light, a speed sensor, a cadence sensor, and a heart rate chest strap (all by Garmin). All connected with no issue.
