Dear customer, We would suggest using the 5V/2A external power adapter to power the ezcast, it would be more stable.

Can this output to 2560x1080p?

It can output UHD 4096x2160P@24P, 3840x2160P@60P, 1920x1080P@60P.

I have no wifi access point. will my android connect to this box without a home wifiap?

Assuming it works like their earlier models it's default is to make its own wifi for you to connect to. You have to use an app and specifically set it up to connect it to a wifi access point.

Does the airplay feature work for paid services such as Netflix?

Sorry, it doesn't support Netflix.
