No matter what hair product I tried, my hair was dull, had been increasingly graying and had begun to become noticeably thin on top (the hair part was bigger) and a widow's peak was becoming pronounced. Whenever I washed my hair, I would have a large amount of hair loss. In addition, I hated to color my hair because really large amounts of hair would come out due to the chemicals. I had only previously experienced this type of hair loss after childbirth, with hair recovery shortly thereafter - otherwise had excellent hair in life until perimenopause began at age 47. Read about He Shou Wu in "Woman's World" magazine. Have not colored my hair in 4 months and have been using the product for a little over three months. Within 1 month, began to see natural shine return. After 2 months, began to feel some fullness and body return. Now, after 3 months can definitely say that my hair growth has improved greatly and have not had to color my hair. Can see new growth filling in widow's peak area and along hairline (some gray but mostly black). Can feel fullness on top of head and can see that the hair part-line is not so prominent. My hair color is phenomenal. Although still some gray, it is no where near as gray as it would have been and gray hairs seem to be less pronounced and fading to black. Another complement is that my eyebrows have begun to grow in. Every morning I closely stare at my hair and am actually amazed at the improvement. My hair tends to grow really slowly but in the last month I've had noticeable growth and I don't think I'm imagining it because other people have commented as well. I started taking this just for hair growth, but was really pleasantly surprised that it seems to have an effect on anxiety as well. The days I take it, I seem to feel calmer throughout the day and more focused. It's very subtle but I notice the effect over time. I have been taking two tablets every morning (empty stomach), and I would forget to take it at least a few times a week, but I still experienced these results.Update 16 months later still taking it nearly every day except often miss on the weekends. I take it in the morning on an empty stomach when I remember, otherwise closer to or with breakfast. I have longer hair now than I have been able to grow since maybe age 11. I am 37 now and have three grey hairs that I know of, and two of them were there before I started taking the supplement. They are still there, and it is hard to say but I am guessing that the supplement is keeping things in check.My main reason to take this however was to address thinning. While I have always had thinner hair, things seemed to worsen all of a sudden around age 34, which is when I started experimenting with supplements. I can only report a slight improvement in this area, but it certainly has not gotten any worse, maybe a bit better. But there is some color in my gray that I don't think would be there otherwise. This is one of those products where you can't really listen to anyone else though. Like any other vitamin, it depends on what your body needs. I could swear, though, that even though I'm still gray, my hair's in better condition and I feel better, too, than when I'm not taking it. And too, you have to take it as it says, on an empty stomach. So I take it first thing in the morning now. Let's face it, there are those of us who just want a little more color back and don't want the all over dye job again. I'm going to keep using this.UPDATE: I suggest people stop all use of this until further notice.
