One of the most important things to me is the tip: Does it continue to clean easy? Does it begin disintegrating? I am very impressed with the tip. I actually clean mine with a little solder as it heats. Wipe the tip with solder until it easily flows on the tip. It has been a few weeks of daily use and the tip is still like new. Iron temperature: Next is controlling temperature. Too hot and traces on boards come loose easily. Too cool or not enough power and large solder connections get very hard to melt. This iron is very controllable for small work and enough power when the temp is turned up high to melt tuff large connections. Just give it a little time to heat it up.
