Works on a Epi Dot 335
It's wider than most electric guitar nuts so it spreads the strings wider and raises them higher which is perfect for playing slide. It really turns your guitar into a Lapsteel guitar. The action with this does become to high to useably fret but it does a great job and it's cheap and well made.

High enough to allow using a Beard capo
Very happy with this. It's effective and easy to fit. I had a simple raised nut made of angled sheet-metal, that raised the action high enough to allow playing lap-style on an old acoustic, but when I got a dobro capo, the action wasn't quite high enough to allow the capo to fit properly (a Beard Wave Dobro Capo that I really like). Fitting this new nut raised the action enough that the capo now fits perfectly.

Cool little gadget
Great way to convert an unused acoustic guitar perhaps with a bad neck/action into a lap steel. I used John Pearse hawaiian lap steel strings (open C tuning) and it works pretty well. This solution is probably not as good as a purpose-built lap steel guitar but it's definitely good enough to give slide guitar a go before committing to an expensive Gretsch or Dusenberg lap steel. A warning.. The nut is quite wide, it'll fit a standard acoustic guitar but it might be too wide for a Strat or Tele.

Not a good fit.for a Strat
Basically does its job, but because the action is now raised so much, can't use frets any more. Also much wider than the neck of my Squier strat, and doesn't lie flat. Can't help thinking that there is an opportunity here for someone to make one that just raises the action a bit and has the same width as a conventional nut. Or did I just buy the wrong one? A bit expensive for what it is.

Great idea to use on a guitar you want to play slide on.
Just the job for raising the action on your guitar to play slide without permanent modifications! It works and it works very well!

Warning: This won't fit the majority of guitars
Bought this because it seemed a more economical option than buying a slide guitar. It was immediately clear that this was a waste of time. It is so wide that it doesn't fit any of my half dozen acoustic and electric guitars. It's not just a question of the ends of the nut overhanging, the actual grooves for the strings are so widely spaced, the two E strings are held wider than the neck of the guitars, too.

If you're like me and just want to add some lap steel to your recordings once in a while, but don't want to buy a lap steel and have it collecting dust, this is the answer. Raises the action perfectly; no concern for touching frets, but you can still feel the neck and fretboard. It widens the string spacing a bit as well, just the right amount. As you can see in the pic, the edge is designed to match the edge on the nut it's sitting on, so it doesn't change the scale (string length). Simple design, fits perfectly on my Casino Coupe, finish and workmanship are great. Bottom line... you can't go wrong. Much better than spending money on a low end piece of junk lap steel.
