You will love this.
Because I started spinning with my Christmas present (a spinning wheel), I naturally had to learn to card wool. The blending board was the next logical step. This board was easy to use and several YouTube videos showed me how to get the best results. It's well built and looks great on the wall in my craft room. Which actually needs to be a lot bigger to accommodate this new hobby. Now, if I could just convince my husband to let me have a sheep........

Great felting tool!
I love this board and brush to use with my wool for felting. Easy to put you wool on the board and mix into other colors! Easy to use and great price point!

upside down but expected based on reviews
Do have to be very careful, I cut my hands up pretty good trying to figure out the best way to use this with the carding cloth upside down, and not knowing if the brush was oriented correctly either. It is possible to use, and for the price, I'm good with what I got. I mostly wanted something small and affordable while I decided whether I would pursue these fiber drafting/blending methods enough to warrant a big name brand version that has a keel

You get what you pay for
Before buying this blending board I read the reviews and learned that the carding cloth was put on upside down. If Iโd planned to make a lot of art batts, I'd have gotten a better quality blending board in the first place. The wire used to create the carding cloth is too fine for the heavy duty task of creating serious art batts. Eventually enough pins will bend until the carding cloth is useless. The hole in the board for the hand hold has not been sanded at all making the wood cutout feel sharp to the grip. The blending brush is actually a pet slicker brush wonโt work as a blending brush, and it canโt work at all once the carding cloth on the blending board is turned around to the way itโs supposed to be. So if you're planning on light use for a blending board and are considering this one, before it arrives have a tool to remove the staples used to attach the carding cloth to the board. Then after turning the carding cloth around you'll need either a staple gun and staples or some good glue like E6000 to hold the carding cloth securely on the board. Also have some sandpaper handy to sand the hand hold. Instead of the useless pet slicker brush you could use a stiff bristle paint brush or something similar. Oh, and don't forget to watch the video at the site where this blending board is offered for sale. Itโs a bit humorous to see someone try to show how wonderful this product is when itโs obvious that the person demonstrating has absolutely no clue how to use a blending board.

Great blending board
The mat was on right, so I guess they got that sorted, however, the brush is a dog brush. That means the teeth on the brush are backwards. Not that big of a deal, I'll just have to use it upside down, is all. It is mounted on unfinished wood, and it needed a light sanding with a fine grit sand paper to give the wood a smooth, finished feel. I then coated it with some boiled linseed oil, which gave it a perfect finish in less than 5 minutes. (For the record, I prefer when wood craft items come unfinished. It allows me the option to give it a custom finish, if I'd like.) The only thing I think it really needs is some nonslip feet.

Spikes on the board are the wrong direction
I'm new to board blending. But one thing I did learn was that the bend of the spikes is supposed to be pointed towards the handle. Mine weren't. they were pointed away from the handle. So, I wound up having to remove the staples and turning the mat so that it was the right way and using my staple gun to correct the issue. Now I can card in the right direction where the fibers catch, and I can actually hold the board. One thing I did learn is this is actually great for cleaning the fibers. It helps open up the fibers of the wool it helps even get the little, tiny curls that are going to get stuck in your yarn out and spot them as well. So, I actually use this for cleaning. I brush the wool, and I can see that the dirt settles to the bottom and then you can just get a shop vac and suck up the dirt. But it's SOO much easier to pick the stickers and the dirt out of the fibers using these boards rather than just for bleeding.

Backwards
Itโs functional-ish, but the mat is on backwards af. Just like the majority of all the other reviewersโ have found. I have a staple gun but Iโm still gonna leave one star because I shouldnโt have to use tools to fix a โprofessionalโ product. If I wanted to make my own, I would have bought a cutting board and my own mat ๐คจ Itโs the right way in the advertised photos, just not on the actual product.

Upside down - so what?!
The board and tools work great, at 25% of the cost of name brand boards it's a steal.

Poorly made, the spikey mat lifts off the wood too easily
And the unfinished dowels make removal very difficult; i literally use vice-grips to pull one while I secure the other. Fine for starting out or itโs whatโs affordable to you; it will do the job. But it wont make the job easy.

Good value and well made
This is great for anyone wanting to dip into carding, it's a fraction of the price of other boards and does the job perfectly well. I've made some lovely blends on it, very pleased.
