I have been able to cut a very small pill in half and then cut the halves into fourths, which were just a tad over 1/16th inch square. (The pill was for my kitty.) However, if the pill is somewhat crumbly, it might shatter at such a small size. **Q: In what country is the splitter manufactured?** A: According to the Pillcut.com website, the item is manufactured in the USA. **Q: Can you cut the pills in quarters without them breaking up?** A: First, cut round pills into halves. Then, load the halves cut side down, crosswise between the retainers. Really easy. **Q: can you cut pills that are about 1/8th of an inch** A: Yes, you can split pills that are very small. I would not try that on my own very small tablets because I could not control/know if they split exactly in half, especially for rectangular shaped medicines. Splitting something 1/8 of an inch results in two 1/16 inch halves. I feel that is too small for me to confidently know my pill is split exactly in half. However it cost £23, and despite being stored in a warm dry room, its blade rusted in only three months, it now crushes many tablets that it once cut cleanly. At this cost it should have a durable preferable stainless steel blade. S stanely knive blade stored in a damp garage would have lasted MUCH longer. For a pill cutter this expensive, that is used ony once a week, a 3 month lifepsan is utterly annaccpetable in my view.
