I was lucky to get these here on amazon at a fraction of the regular price. They're quite big but the ergonomics are perfect - it just feels right in my hand. The handles are not bulky like many pliers nowadays with excessively thick rubber grips. My old linesman pliers could only cut through thicker wire (about 2-3mm) with difficulty - these ones do that easily. These are big, heavy-duty pliers; they are too big to work well for cutting fine wire like for crafts and jewelry, these are for working with and cutting medium-gauge wire (around 1-3mm) like thicker chicken wire, farm/outdoor dog cage fencing, but not chain link fence - that requires even bigger cutters or bolt cutters. Like a lot of high-quality linesman pliers, these are intentionally made with gripping jaws that don't close fully, they have an approx. 1mm gap when closed. This is a design choice to ensure that the jaws don't prevent the cutting edges from closing fully if the cutting edges wear down more than the jaws. Priority has been given to cutting wires rather than gripping thin items. But to my delight, they can still grip the 19 gauge (0.9 mm) tie wire I use often...this is about the thinnest that these will work with.

This pliers is very strong especially on cutting hard materials.
