I agree with other reviewers about the head not fitting properly. This is common with all the mattocks that I’ve ever bought. Just use epoxy putty all around where the head is going to be, then follow the instructions like normal, and wait for the epoxy to harden. I’ve used it weekly for over 2 years without issue.

Have had these pick-axe tools prior and someone "borrowed" and didn't return my last one. I researched dimensions of what was available and the blade size on this one is perfect while others were too small or too large. I also like the fiberglas handle as opposed to wood as the fiberglas will not splinter and is stronger for prying leverage. Only negative is the metal pick-axe does loosen during heavy duty use, which I remedied and inserting some nails into the fiberglas handle between the metal pick-axe. Pveral good value.

Heavy Duty! My husband is hard on everything- breaks every shovel and rake we get... but hes NOT going to break this! He loves it, great for digging holes to plant, hitting rocks did not phase this thing. Highly reccomend. No problem with the head sliding, twisting- nothing. It took him less than a minute to attach the head, and it's NOT coming off. Shipped fast. Great product!

I am using this to remove the roots of invasive and unwanted plants from my backyard. It works helpfully so far is easy to pick up and swing. The handle feels a little smaller than I would like effecting the ergonomics. I might require thicker padded gloves for this one. The most important thing to know is to use it carefully and restore soil along the way so that barberry and other plants do not return.

I agree with the folks who have mentioned the head not fitting onto the handle. I’m a regular howeowner with no special tools (or skills!). I can’t get the head to stay on the handle. It’s always slipping. This seems like a very lazy or cheap (or both) design flaw. It’s a shame because it would be so easy to fix. Does the tool work? Kind of in that you can swing the pickaxe several times without the head coming down the handle. But eventually that head is going to slip, so why bother with this when there are many other choices? Learn from my mistake and go with something else.
