It then shorted any battery that was attached to it. Trying to get in contact with EGO was (and still is) impossible due to the fact they have one single phone number as a point of contact, no webform, no email nothing. The 1420 has a carbon fiber look to it, the power trigger also has an extra safety feature to stop the unit from accidently engaging. The speed indicator also lights up. The shaft is also carbon fiber. **Q: Difference between 1400 & 1420 powerhead? Both item descriptions seem to list a hi/low speed switch? True? The value of hi/low speed seems minimal?** A: True Hi/lo switch. Noticable power change.
