This substrate is very chunky and comes very dry and clean. It will not make a mess when repotting, and is probably one of the best options for plants that need a lot of aeration in their substrate. There is a tiny bit of sphagnum moss in this, but I don’t think it’s enough to make any noticeable difference tbh. It’s very sparse. But regardless, I like this. It’s very chunky and even though I haven’t had anything planted in it for more than a week, I can tell that it’s going to be very hard to overwater and it’s going to be highly aerated. If you want to have a little more water retention just buy a little block of sphagnum moss (a little block of that stuff creates a TON of wet moss), or if you want to fill in the open space between the chunks you could use some perlite, or even some Aroid mix. See my second picture for what the majority of this product looks like. It’s difficult to pot an orchid with this if you’ve never done it before. In hindsight I would say to wet this product first, so that it has some weight to it, which will help to keep the plant upright. Otherwise you’ll have to continuously hold the plant up or stake it to keep it upright will filling the pot. It’s extremely light and blocky when dry. So I like everything about this stuff, nothing I mentioned is a negative to me (just trying to be helpful by pointing it out everything I can think of), but there is one negative; it seems expensive for what you get. For the mini bag, I was able to repot two orchids from 4” pots to one of each 5” and 6” pots, but I had to use a bunch of sphagnum moss, perlite and even some of the drier material from my Aroid Mix to fill the pots. It wasn’t enough for the two pots alone, at $20. I’m guessing the mini bag would fill about 1-1.5 pots which are 5-6” typical height pots. If you have repot multiple plants or you’re using large pots, you’re going to need a lot more than just the 2 quart mini bag (a quart is about 1 liter, it’s a little less, but remember this is very chunky stuff so a volume measurement isn’t super helpful because you’re cramming it all together in a pot much more than it is when it’s sitting loosely in the bag).

Excellent product. Very thick, and held up well so far. I would purchase this again. For a single orchid this size bag was great! Good value for the money !

i think its expensive, but cheaper than if i were to buy from their website since it costs almost 80$ for shipping... and without counting the conversion rate between US and CAN dollar... but this potting mix so far is the best i tried so far. will try molly's next time to compare since it seems cheaper than repotme! for this mini bag size, i was able to fill in my 3 orchid pots: 1x4" and 2x5" (meshpot with holes). before i never changed the moss they come with when i buy orchid. which now i do, because its not good for the roots as they need to breathe air and not be kept damped. with this new system,i realize i have to bathe my orchids twice a week but they are better than ever. so, idk if it's the combo of growing lights, pots with holes, adequate potting mix and slow fertilizer, but my orchids never been better. and i have tried for so long grow orchids for many years. but now, instead of one of them getting a second blooming, i now have my first keiki on the way (2 leaves at the moment). I'm delighted!

rePotme Orchid Potting Mix, Phalaenopsis Dark Classic Orchid Mix (Mini Bag) - Hand Blended in The USA My mother’s orchid plants are all more than ten years old and gradually the soil in the pots has eroded. The rePotme potting mix was the perfect way to supplement the diminishing potting mix in those pots. While it is a bit costly for a small amount, I did not need a large quantity and chose this brand for its quality. The mixture I received was very dry, so I mixed it with water and let it soak until moistened. It was definitely a good quality with no debris and lots of the expected ingredients. Topping off the existing soil has made her plants look better and they even seem to be having some new spurts of growth.
