Perfnique Kitchen Compost Bin, 1.3 Gallon Countertop Compost Bin

I bought because our state now requires us to separate our food garbage. We kept a big clear plastic food storage container under the sink for the first four months, and it was a pain because we had to work to pull off the lid that sealed on, something you don't want to do when you've got food garbage in your hand. The thing got gross, so I ordered this cute container to replace it. It comes with a small bucket inside of the decorative can. I love that you can pull the bucket out by the drop handle when you want to dump it and not have to touch the bucket. My husband doesn't care for it because the bucket is smaller than the yucky container we were using, but I love it and I've now taken over the job of emptying it. We keep a five-gallon bucket with a lid in the garage and I take the small bucket out once a day, sometimes more often, and dump it into the big bucket, which we dump into the trash can just before trash pick-up. The bucket in the cute can is easy to just rinse out in the sink, and sometimes I clean it with some disinfectant spray and wipe it with a paper towel. The outside can is easy to wipe down if and when it gets anything on it. I bought a package of the filters that go into the lid, and I've only changed it once in the two months that we've had it. It does not stink at all. With the lid on, which includes a handle that sticks up, it fits under the large garbage disposal under our sink. I do have to pull it out to the floor to dump things in it, or I am perfectly comfortable putting it in the sink or on the countertop when I'm chopping vegetables and creating a lot of food refuse. It's so cute and clean that I don't mind it being on the countertop, though I don't want to keep it there all the time; it is a garbage can, after all. I highly recommend it for a home kitchen; it's well made and is very attractive, especially considering that it's a garbage can. You can get larger ones, but I liked the looks of this one and needed a short one to fit under our disposal. I looked at a lot on-line and this had the largest refuse can for its height. If you create a tremendous amount of food garbage, however, this one may be too small for you. As for me, it's perfect.

This compost bin is great. The size is great for daily use. It is very cute on the counter. The filter removes unpleasant odors while allow ventilation to the compost. Easy to clean and is very light weight.

I like everything about this except its size. I wish it were larger. Otherwise it's handsome and functional.

This compost bin is the perfect replacement for the old transparent cookie container we've been using for our food scraps. I hated seeing into the container. I love, love, love this compost bin. It looks great in our kitchen. It is small but my husband routinely empties the container into our outdoor tumbling compost bin so it fits our lifestyle just fine. I do like how it is easy to empty. All you have to do is slide out the inner plastic bin and carry it out by the handle. It's easy to wash. No compost bags needed.

I like it, no regrets. Cute and efficient. The filters work great. The removeable plastic pail is extremely handy to grab and dump at the garden/compost pile, leaving the metal aesthetic part safely in the kitchen. Easy to wash. Highly recommend. Just check your measurements and make sure it's big enough for you

Perfect, I thought it might be too small but it holds at least weeks worth. Makes it easier to make one trip to our compost instead of many. I have not smelled any odd odors, so I guess that works. Plastic bucket inside just rinse it out.

We use this all the time! This countertop compost bin is SO handy!! Rather than running to the compost bin multiple times a day, this bin makes it easy to collect scraps and then empty as needed. The plastic bin inside is easy to remove and holds a decent amount of waste. It is also easy to wash. The metal exterior container and lid provide a nice look for your countertop. The filter inside the lid is great and helps to control flies and gnats.

Esthetically nice-looking metal compost container; came with a couple of extra filters, which is nice and cost-saving. The liner bucket it comes with really reduces the capacity of the canister, though, so I also purchased compostable bags to use rather than the bucket, for easy disposal and more volume. I like it very much!
