The Tea Dragon Society is the two-time Eisner Award-winning gentle fantasy that follows the story of a blacksmith apprentice, and the people she meets as she becomes entwined in the enchanting world of tea dragons. Winner of the 2018 Eisner Award for Best Publication for Kids Winner of the 2018 Eisner Award for Best Webcomic ALA Rainbow List (2018) 2018 Dwayne McDuffie Award for Kids Comics Winner desertcart.com's Best Comics & Graphic Novels (2017) School Library Journal's Top 10 Graphic Novels (2017) "A manga-flavored fairy tale just the right length to pair with a cup of tea." โโ Hope Larson ( A Wrinkle in Time: The Graphic Novel) "Undeniably whimsical and extremely cute." โโ Kirkus From the award-winning author of Princess Princess Ever After comes THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY, the beloved and charming all-ages book that follows the story of Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, and the people she meets as she becomes entwined in the enchanting world of tea dragons. After discovering a lost tea dragon in the marketplace, Greta learns about the dying art form of tea dragon care-taking from the kind tea shop owners, Hesekiel and Erik. As she befriends them and their shy ward, Minette, Greta sees how the craft enriches their livesโand eventually her own. BONUS CONTENT: Included in this gorgeous, oversized hardcover is "Extracts from the Tea Dragons Handbook", explaining more about the creatures with illustrations of all the dragon breeds not seen in the graphic novel. And don't miss Aquicorn Cove , K. O'Neill's adorable follow-up to The Tea Dragon Society. Review: 5/5 - Perfection! - Friends, this was the literally cutest and most heartwarming book Iโve read all year. Also, the art in this book is probably my favorite art style of all time. I recommend this with my entire heart and soul. This story is broken down into five parts; one for each season and then an epilogue. And during Spring, an apprentice blacksmith, Greta (who is getting trained by her mother), rescues a little dragon outside! Gretaโs father recognizes the little dragon and knows who his owner is. And once Greta goes to return the little dragon, she gets an invite from the owner, Hesekiel, to come and learn all about the Tea Dragons! Tea Dragons are basically just mini dragons that grow different herbs alongside their horns! And all the names of the dragons are because of their different herbs. The dragon that Greta saves is named Jasmine, but we also meet Rooibos, Chamomile, and a few others during the duration of this book. Greta learns all about Tea Dragons, but also learns about a society that Hesekiel and his husband, Erik, are the last remaining members of. Greta also meets Minette, who is a young girl who was training to be a prophetess and is now having trouble remembering things. She left home, and is now working with Hesekiel and Erik, while also making a beautiful friendship with Greta. But this story is truly about friendship, and how important it is to find a place in the world that will surround you with unconditional love. This is also a story about honoring the past, and traditions, and cultures, and not forgetting where you come from. And ultimately, this is a story about balancing those two aspects and living a life that youโre proud of and that makes you happy. Overall, I loved this more than any word combination I could come up with. Friends, if you are looking for a beautiful book, with even more beautiful messages, that star people of color, and people with disabilities (someone in a wheelchair and someone living with memory loss), and LBGTQIAP+ characters, then look no further. This was nothing short of a treat to read, and I hope you all pick it up. Also, I desperately want my own Tea Dragon companion now. Review: Magnificent & enchanting! So inspiring It demolished my year+ long art block. - For children of all ages. I'll be age 43 in 5 days & thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was thrilled to discover this new world & yearn for more. relight my imagination & desire to draw. Plus I looked very similar to Greta at that age & was as equally enthralled with learning all about cats as she is with her passion. This is the 5th graphic novel I've read after discovering how much I enjoy them a mere 5 days ago. I began with Lavender Towne's Unfamiliar series, then read The Okay Witch, & Wash Day Chronicles. The last book is a slice of the lives of current African American women, while the others are in the fantasy genre. The only book not featuring as main lcharacters POC was Unfamiliar (in fact there's zero ethnic diversity). All include lgbt+ characters. This is the only book that includes someone living with a disability. I included the other series as I always want to find books similar to what I just finished. The Unfamiliar books are what I'd read last as it was my 2nd favorite after Tea Dragon Society & most similar to it. I'm excited to find more fantasy graphic novels starring POC. Or just those with leading ladies.

Cute, but not what I expected
I originally purchased this book, thinking it was a cozy cottagecore novel. Nowhere in the description does it say anything about it being more like a comic book/picture book. I read it in just a few minutes. That being said, it is a lovely little book, with adorable illustrations, a fun storyline, and cute characters. I enjoyed reading it very much. However, I do not think it is worth the $12 I paid for it because of how quickly I read it, and because of that, I likely will not purchase the others in the series, and that is also why I gave it 4 stars. I do think this book would be excellent for young girls who are just getting into reading though!

Very Sweet and Worth the Read
This book is so calming and beautifully illustrated. Itโs something I plan to add to my list of gentle and pleasant things that help me cope with my anxiety. The world building is wonderfully crafted and the characters are uniqueโeach of them has their own short but potent story. Definitely worth a read (and a reread).

Excellent Quality, Beautiful Story, Gorgeous Artwork!
I absolutely ADORE this book! I was super impressed by the quality of the hardcover book when it arrived. It felt very solid and sturdy like a high-quality children's book. All the details on the cover and the pages are lovely. Every detail was crisp and clean. There were no signs of damage or mess-ups during production (so no damage to the hardcover and no bleeding ink on the pages.) It was clearly done with lots of care and precision. I follow the artist, Katie O'Neill (or strangelykatie) on Tumblr and was so excited to find out that she had published actual books of her comics! The artwork is gorgeous and makes me feel like I'm living in a magical, whimsical pocket dimension. The story in this book is also beautiful and uplifting. Honestly, that's what I love the most about Katie O'Neill's work. Her stories are full of friendship, kindness, compassion, and love. They represent all different kinds of people learning to grow and trust each other. This story and Katie's other book, Princess Princess Ever After, are some of my go-to cheerful stories that make me smile when I'm feeling sad. I'm so grateful to have these books in my life!

Charming graphic novel with gorgeous illustrations
The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill is a charming graphic novel with gorgeous illustrations and a story that has a lot of heart. As a tea lover, I found the tea dragons delightful. They're little dragons that bond with their owners and when they're properly cared for, the leaves, flowers and berries that grown on their horns can be harvested to make amazing tea. I would definitely want to try some of this magical tea if it were possible. The beautiful artwork (swipe to see the end pages and a sample page) was a perfect compliment to the touching story about friendship, found family and love. An all around feel good book that has diverse characters, The Tea Dragon Society is one of my favorite graphic novel reads this year. Pretty sure I will be rereading this one, and I look forward to the companion novel The Tea Dragon Festival. I have a copy of Princess Princess Ever After which I'm excited to read, and I'm hoping I can find a copy of Aquicorn Cove here in the Philippines.

Itโs so stinking cute! I love it! The art is absolutely beautiful and cute. I was worried for a second that blacksmithing was going to be cast aside for the tea dragons but glad both are invested in

A Pleasant Read
I enjoyed reading this and Katie O'Neill's previous book, Princess Princess Ever After. They're quick, cute reads, and while they both have heartwarming and almost emotionally soothing storylines, there's something about the author's storytelling that feels a bit thin, or like there are some things that were skipped over in order to keep the books short. In both books, I longed for more character and world development. They both feel like snippets of a larger story that I'm interested in exploring, but don't have access to. For these reasons, I wonder if O'Neill will ever do a longer form graphic novel. While I am a little underwhelmed by the story, I am completely SOLD on tea dragons and would very much would like a little green tea dragon of my own!
