It is easy to set up, easy to use and it is safe. It opens to create a Y shape that is actually quite stable and it was easy to clean. The only place it falls short is that the chute through which you put your vegetables through is pretty small and you will not be able to process slices nearly as large as a traditional mandolin can. For example, I like to make pineapple chips. In a mandolin slicer, I can do half circles for my shapes and the size. In this, I can do no more than a quarter circle. This is not an issue if you know it in advance and plan your recipe around it- but I thought it would be good to point out to those thinking of purchasing.
