Crunching is bad for compressing lower vertebrae.Curls ups much better, but most curl ups are done badly as there is a tendency to pull head forward on the curl up causing compression of neck vertebrae.This roller helped me to resolve this.By removing the head support of this roller and using the exposed bar to be in light contact with back of the neck, it is much easier to have the correct neck position for the curl up and curl down.Use one finger to roll the roller slowly up and slowly down. All control done with abs. Concentric and eccentric exercise.PS small towel under lumbar vertebrae for support. Great!! Sorted!!
