Do not use too much pressure and gentle tapping helps to break the seal. **Q: My tap is very old and the 'cold/hot' lid does NOT come off. will i still get good leverage with this device?** A: No you will need to get (unscrew) the covers first, that should reveal a screw which must be removed before the tap can be lifted off the spline using the device at that point if necessary. Personally the device was a bit useless and a waste of money. **Q: What size are the holes in the side arms. Grinning from ear to ear (how sad)... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can work well on highly corroded taps. *by J***E on 9 July 2024* I used this on two tap handles with very severe corrosion on the splines. It would not work with simple hand pressure but did work when pump pliers were applied to the knob. I was worried that the knob would detach or the thread would be stripped but the device seems to be extremely robust. If you don't have pump pliers, a suitable spanner or vice grips should supply extra leverage.
