## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between 'blunt edges' (this device) and the alternative 'serated edges'?**
A: The serrated edged one will make little holes in both pattern paper and in the fabric as well. The blunt edged one will give a continuous line without any holes in either paper or fabric. There are many uses for tracing wheels. The conventional method in sewing is to place carbon paper on top of fabric and pattern on top of carbon paper then use the wheel to trace the pattern onto the fabric.

**Q: Does this have to be used with carbon paper beneath the fabric? If so, any recommendations for carbon paper?**
A: You will need tracing paper. Do not use regular carbon paper (for paper documents) because the markings might not wash off. No recommendations, though. Any tracing paper should suffice. I bought Burda's pack solely because it came in 4 different colours.

**Q: have you used this to add seam allowances to Burda patterns?**
A: Hi lanciagirl,  actually that's why I bought it. Those burda magazine patterns can be quite complicated! This little wheel let's you add seam allowances to traced patterns with ease.  I use 1/2 inch for seam allowances as it saves fabric but it lets you add the usual 5/8 and other increments. It's a good little tool :)

**Q: I'm a novice and bought the serrated wheel. I noticed that the edge is cutting my pattern so it's not reusable. How do you get around this?**
A: Serrated wheel is used to copy an actual garment onto paper. If you want to copy paper pattern piece to paper you need Burda copy paper or carbon paper and blunt wheel, or an empty rollerball pen. Hope this helps.
