Star Trek Voyager - The Complete Collection

I am not a Trekkie or a huge Star Trek fan (I am more of a classic 1960s and 1970s Whovian), but I really enjoyed Star Trek Voyager. A lot of the franchise ranged from the Original Series, The Next Generation, DS9 and other future Star Trek franchises focused on officers that served with Starfleet Command whilst Voyager turned this on its head. The crew of the USS Voyager who are stuck in the dangerous and unknown “Delta Quadrant “ blends and combines a Starfleet Crew such as Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Lt\Lt Commander Tuvoc (Tim Russ), Lt (Junior Grade) Tom Paris (Robert Duncan-McNeill), Ensign Harry Kim (Garrett Wang (he should of been promoted to Lt (Junior Grade) during Season 6) and one of my favourite characters the EMH -Emergency Medical Hologram “The Doctor” (Robert Picardo) and other Starfleet officers and crew men with former members of the Marquee, Marquee Leader and Voyager’s First Officer Commander Charkotay (Robert Bertran) and half human\Klingon hybrid and Voyager’s Chief Engineer Lt B’lenna Torres (Roxanne Dawson (who,s another favourite character of mine)) and other members of the Marquee crew some are dangerous such as Batazoid, Lon Sauder (Brad Douriff), Seska (Martha Hackett), a Cardassian Spy who altered to look Bajoran and one who’s a Kazon traitor Michael Jonas (Raphael Serbage), but a lot of time, a majority of the Marquee Crew are good characters and are willing to help out the Starfleet crew. Along for the ride is two alien guides Neelix (Ethan Phillips) and Kes (Jennifer Lien) who helps Voyager to deal with threats from various Kazon factions and the organ harvesting aliens “The Vidians” during the first three seasons, along with the mischievous, immature and immoral “Q” played in fantastic form by legendary Star Trek: The Next Generation guest star John De’Lancie. However, after the deaths of Sauder (who becomes dies a hero in the end of Season Three, Basics Part Two), Seska (Basics Part Two) and Michael Jonas (Season Two, episode Investigation), Season Three showed both crews working together and moving forward and away from Kazon and Vidian space and moving towards their dangerous future adversaries “The Borg”. Onset, at the end of Season Three, the cast and production teams had previously had problems with their youngest cast member Jennifer Lien and her character Kes wasn’t developing and her attitude wasn’t helping and her character was finally written out at the beginning of Season Four, and her character left and departed from Voyager at the second adventure “The Gift” to make room for the most iconic character in Star Trek History. The solution was to replace the character with a character who was human, but was captured and assimilated by Starfleet’s greatest enemy “The Borg”, so one of the most important and most iconic characters were created “Seven Of Nine” (who’s also one of my favourite characters) played brilliantly by American actress Jeri Ryan, this helped the show from being on hiatus to become a popular cult show and during Season 4 to Season 7 the viewing figures increased. Seven Of Nine became a Elisa Doolittle character from being completely “Borg” at the beginning to become human at the final adventure Season 7 “Endgame”. Seven was very intelligent yet she had to slowly adapt and found social interactions difficult from a Collective Borg Drone to a human individual. Seven’s attitude was challenging at first and she caused tension especially with Janeway which was very measured, but it was especially with Chief Engineer B’Leanna Torres, who’s didn’t trust Seven and disagreements and arguments did occur, but she changed during the last episodes of the final Season 7 as she trusted Seven more when she became pregnant. She wasn’t the only character to change it wasn’t only the blended Starfleet and Marquee crew that changed during the 7 Seasons it was the EMH “The Doctor” that changed as well from being cold, robotic and not very approachable hologram to being mentored by former crew member Kes with hobbies such as Art, Music, Dancing and even romance to being a more warm, friendly, supportive, caring, loving and more humane character, and he later becomes Seven Of Nine’s mentor to make her more human whose developed a humorous, caring and supportive friendship and a strong relationship to characters who developed who were lacking personalities and didn’t have any emotions or empathy at all at the beginning, but they became firm friends with the crew as reliable team and a good family within the Voyager crew. Jeri Ryan’s impact on the show was fantastic as from Season 4 to Season 7, and the storylines changed dramatically into a lot darker stories, and with darker stories came new villains such as the trophy hunters and gathering hunters “Hirogens” made a strong impact to the ratings as well during Season 4 to 7, and boosted their ratings. If I went back in time, the only changes I would have made is the promotion of Harry Kim to Lt (Junior Grade) during Season 5 or 6, and during the end of Season 5 have Seven Of Nine start to wear a Science Starfleet Uniform (with green shoulders) with Marquee insignia similar to Chakotay and Torres as she was not fully in Starfleet that would have been the only changes I would have made to this outstanding series. I am glad that Jeri Ryan’s character of “Seven Of Nine”, and John De’Lancie’s character of “Q” was to develop in Sir Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek’s spin off “Picard”.

All below the dotted line was my original review. Above the dotted line is my reviewed review. I thoroughly liked watching right through the whole journey. However I would not be watching through it again as much as I think I would like to. I just do not think I could watch Kate Mulgrew snarl her way through seven series of Voyager again. Shame because there were some exceptional episodes that I would love to see again. ------------------------------------- I have owned it for a week and have been watching a lot. It's been one of the best series' that I have ever watched. As of yet I have not seen an episode that I have not seen before on TV, and that surprised me. It would be nice to see some new episodes. However every episode I have seen, I have enjoyed. It's great to be back with the crew on their journey. The quality of Voyager has something unique to me. The task of getting back to the Alpha quadrant makes it unique. Other aspects of Voyager are great too. The acting is brilliant and the writing is exemplary sometimes. It has good humour, with laugh out loud moments. There are also some very emotional moments, and the overall journey is an emotional ride. Expect some tears. I love being on the journey with them, and watching them bonding. The quality of the item has come into question in some reviews. However mine is perfect. The three plastic cases containing the discs are nicely done. Each disc is playing perfectly and I have no worries now. The 4:3 aspect can be made into almost widescreen with cropping in your player. It works absolutely perfectly. I am watching using JRiver on a computer at the moment. It helps that I can use the WASAPI audio driver, which improves the audio. It is also sampling at 48KHz, which is slightly HD-audio. Most computers now can play this. However if not it will down sample to 44.1KHz. Overall the image and sound are good. I have however seen reviews mentioning blurring. I found this is easily dealt with by restating my media player on my computer. I think it comes from using the media player for hours, either watching or keeping it paused for long times. Anyway all is good, and I can watch it from afar or sit close up, and see a clear image. Be prepared for fun, sci-fi, and some scary Borg parts.

I had considered purchasing this box set for around 15+ years, and my only reason for not doing so until now was due to the fact that this is on DVD and not Blu-Ray. After the Star Trek Next Generation HiDef Transfer that cost a great deal to produce, and then the sales were not satisfactory, and so it was decided by the studio that they would not do this to the Voyager Franchise was understandable and yet none the less disappointing. I finally took the plunge and purchased this, and apart from the episodes 4.3 transfer, I am pleased to own this, regardless of any reservations I initially had. If you live in the UK and want to purchase this box set then choose the one in the image above, otherwise when choosing the European version you may have issues with Language selection that can be corrected by going into the popup menu whilst watching the content / any particular disc . I am Glad I purchased. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

I cannot quite understand why this should be considered the weakest of the rebooted 'franchise'. Although it does not really scale the heady heights of TNG's 'Inner Light' or 'The Offspring', whose 'episodic' nature it shares and lacks the cohesion of DSN's over-arching plot lines, still it was no worse in 'gross', in my view, than TNG. Sure, the first three seasons are perhaps weak but still a match for the first two seasons of TNG. Although Kes in the first three seasons should have filled 'the hole' inhabited by Spock in TOS, Data in TNG and Odo in DSN, that hole is not adequately filled until the arrival of 'Seven of Nine' at the beginning of Season Four. It would be easy to charge the showrunners with oversexualising the show (Jeri Ryan does have a magificent body, corset notwithstanding) but Jennifer Lien could have done much the same as Kes, as she 'matured', but was not given the scripts to enable her to do so. All in all, I found 'Voyager' to be as engaging in 'a Star Trek fashion' as TNG and only marginally behind DSN in the satisfaction stakes. Why, therefore, only four stars? There was 'a fault' in my copy of the 'complete' boxed set, which unfortunately seems to afflict the 'season by season' 'slimline' edition as well. Randon episodes, two or three, although my Season Three I could not get to play correctly over a much larger number of episodes, were in German. One could change the language option to French, Italian or Spanish by accessing the 'audio options' menu but English for those episodes appeared unavailable. Fortunately my German is still passible and so I did not return the DVDs as 'faulty'. I have come across this before when a DVD appears to default to the language, which is the first on the list of options available; this I have experienced in multiple DVD drives, both internal ATA and USB2 and USB3. Whether this is a fault at manufacturing, which is known but what the hell, or whether it is a product of the re-shrinkwrapping of returned goods by the manufacturer, the wholesaler or the retailer, I do not know,. I owe it to myself that you are made aware of this. Edit: I forgot to mention this. If you don't want the German dialogue and you are playing this on a computer running VLC Media Player (which I hope you are!), start the video normally, as soon as you hear German dialogue, right click anywhere on the image, choose 'Audio Options' from the menu and then 'Audio Files'; you will then get the option to change to file used to 'English'. There is a brief pause and there it is. Just like the 'red button'. I am sure that a similar option is to be found in 'Windows Media Player' but it is so piss-poor that, in truth, I cannot be arsed to find it.

While Voyager is often extolled for being the first Star Trek series to feature a female captain, what is most notable is the script writers' flair for engaging the cast in dilemmatic and inscrutable situations that challenge the stranded crew's principles, heart, and fortitude. Hurtled into the delta quadrant by an inexplicable force, captain and crew find themselves in uncharted territory ~ physically, mentally, emotionally. They must find their way home to the alpha quadrant against indomitable odds. Encounters with numerous unfamiliar races and harrowing circumstances demands their utilizing creative diplomacy and devising inventive solutions, respectively. Being alone and without means to contact Starfleet Command necessitates questioning when and if the prime directive should be implemented. Although there are a few episodes that might be rated 4-star, Star Trek Voyage exemplifies the epitome of space exploration in a fictional setting. It encompasses the totality of the human condition thrown into an extensive, stressful, and unparalleled situation. Living on the edge of conscience and ingenuity is exacting. Will captain and crew prevail? Treat yourself to this marvelous series and, perhaps, discover the edges of your own morality and creativity.

March 2016, contrary to other reviews it comes in decent & solid plastic dvd boxes 2 huge ones and one smaller. nicely put together as you can remove all the disks for easy access with seasons 1-6, season 7 is in its own box. THIS BOX-SET COMES WITH ALL SPECIAL FEATURES - Nearly a whole disk's worth for each season and includes three episodes from The Original Series. Im very happy with it, Going to pickup TNG complete on Blu ray next - I will buy this on blu ray as soon as its released, bought this set in the meantime. - For some reason Voyager has yet to receive a HD release..... still, this is much better quality than the torrent downloads I have been watching up-to now & I saved 50+ GB of hard drive space getting rid of those low quality rips.. - These are also "fresh presses" dated 2015 on the copyright..

Bought this set after seeing reviews of the previous release having cardboard disk slots that scratched the disks! I was pleased I chose this newer release (Oct 2013). The box comes with three DVD cases slotted inside, two of which are large book style holders, with four disks per plastic 'page'. The two larger cases hold seasons 1-6 and the final small case holds season 7. They are all made of good quality plastic and all arrived intact and in good condition. All in all, the box takes up very little space indeed! With regards to the playback, all of the episodes are available to play from the main screen and the picture quality is as good as any previous release I have been able to see. As I am sure you're aware, Star Trek Voyager is a fantastic series and this is certainly a boxset worth buying, especially if you are looking for all the episodes but don't want to take up half of your DVD cabinet!

How can one but love the Star Trek: Voyager series? The cast is just astounding. A female badass captain who guides her crew with absolute iron will, a knife sharp and totally consistent Vulcan security officer, a holographic doctor that will have you rolling on the floor laughing with his wit, a gorgeous and impressively tough female chief engineer, a charming and witty conn officer, the never-ending good humoured Talaxian morale officer, his beautiful and Garbo-voiced Ocampa woman, the gentle but always stalwart first officer, an ensign that fights on in every adversity in spite of (almost) never getting his promotion and last but not least the super-goddess ex-borg in a slim-fit body suit, in every way as sharp minded as good old Spock! And that's just the main characters, some of the others are almost as good. The ship itself is another important actor also, let's not forget. I can only recommend this series. It's especially full of good episodes if you - just as I do - appreciate the old saying: "To boldly go where no man has gone before..:" Because this show is the true embodiment of those words!

Personnellement, je trouve que c'est une merveilleuse œuvre. on retrouvent tout l'univers de Star Trek, avec toujours la même recette gagnante que j'apprécie. On est toujours dans du Space/Opéra, avec de magnifique image et plan de vaisseaux ou de bataille spatial. une très belle intrigue et des rencontre inattendue et surtout des mystère que nos héros essaierons de découvrir . je ne suis pas de ceux qui pense, que voyageur ne devrais pas faire parti de Star Trek. Bien au contraire, ils rentre bien dans la continuité de l'histoire. avec des personnages toujours atypique.je vous conseille de regarder au moins le trailler, mais ça reste une belle expérience a un prix abordable.

Darauf habe ich lange gewartet - endlich ist Star Trek Voyager als Gesamtpaket erhältlich! Für mich ist das auf jeden Fall ein Grund zur Freude, weil ich die bisher erhältlichen Halbstaffeln als Stückwerk empfinde. Meine Rezension bezieht sich übrigens auf die Slimboxen, die auf dem zweiten Bild zu sehen sind, also ohne die schicke "Transporterraum-Dose". Zunächst einmal: Selbst wenn man nicht so bewandert in der englischen Sprache ist, kann man mit dem UK-Import nichts falsch machen: nach dem Einlegen der DVDs erscheint als erstes ein Menü mit der Sprachauswahl. Die DVDs erhalten sowohl die deutsche Tonspur (außerdem: englisch, französisch, italienisch, spanisch), als auch einen deutschen Untertitel (der sich leider an der deutschen Synchro und nicht am Original orientiert!) Das Hauptmenü ist ganz ähnlich wie bei den TNG-Staffelboxen aufgebaut: Mit "Logbuch" als Kapitelauswahl, "Kommunikator" als Audio- u. Untertitelauswahl, auch das Design ist ähnlich. Jede Season-Box enthält jede Menge Extras (Zusammenfassungen der jeweiligen Staffel, Vorstellung einzelner Charaktere, Infos über Make up und Design usw.), die so interessant sind, dass man sie sich durchaus auch mehrmals anschauen kann. Fazit: Alle Fans dieser tollen Serie können hier getrost zugreifen!

I purchased this particular set back in 2011 and I've watched the whole series from beginning to end about four or five times. I love it that much. For me, this story of Voyager getting lost in the Delta quadrant just never gets old and/or tired. It's like the telling of my own personal journey through this life and my struggle to find my way back home again. It helps tremendously that the story has a beginning and a very definite ending. The story lines were nothing less than engaging -- honestly there are no boring or irrelevant episodes. Each one progresses the story to the next leg of the journey. And Captain Janeway, with the combination of heart and sensitivity she brought to her position of leadership under the circumstances, was/is simply unparalleled making Voyager one of the very best series of the Star Trek saga. (As mentioned by others, the packaging is not at all good but the discs function as they should so if you are only interested in the story being told, this set will serve your purposes.)

I bought the complete DVD collection about 2 months ago and I've been binge watching it ever since. I always been a original Star Trek fan and recently I decided to try out the other series and thus far I got done with TNG and Voyager. There are a lot of things I like about Voyager but there are equally a lot of things I don't like. Overall I am very pleased with the show. As far as DVD packing, my season 2 dvd has one disc that doesn't play well at all. I decided to re-purchase season 2 to complete my collection. That isn't a factor in my score as I just wanted to say that the DVD packing isn't all that great. While it looks like it was constructed well, the packing is very cheap plastic and it seems to hold the DVD not so well. Overall be careful when you remove the dvd also when you put it back, first depress the button so it goes in smoothly without "snapping" into place. As far as the show, I'll point out some random things I like or dislike: * The best episodes of the show go to the Doctor and Seven of Nine. These episodes seem to focus around a very good story to tell and in my opinion it works well. Too bad it is rare to see as there aren't a lot of episodes focusing in this regard. * Captain Janeway is great but she flip flops often in her opinions. That in itself isn't bad except for the fact the reversal happens with little regard to facts from the episode and builds within the last few minutes of the episode. From the very first episode, we witness Captain Janeway determined to get something accomplished. We see all the facts presented and we're with Captain Janeway in what she's about to do. Then as she's about to do what you think she's going to do, the show flip flops by introducing something that makes Captain Janeway immediately flip directions with little development time. Basically by the end of the episode, Captain Janeway does the complete opposite of things. Throughout the series it is sometimes frustrating to watch this. * Key technology or characters are dismissed. Take for example one episode where the Voyager starship is equipped with a new weapon. During the episode we witness Captain Janeway doing the flip and focusing on small details that are revealed at the last minute. Then... nothing further about the technology. It's never seen or discussed again. * During one episode Seven of Nine went haywire and caused the entire Voyager crew to nearly get killed. Nobody gets mad and they welcome Seven back into the crew. In another episode, we see the Doctor wishes to be appreciated so he decides to go on a planet that seems to adore his singing talents but only to find out they have a dark secret and he wishes to return to the Voyager since he made a mistake. Everyone is super angry with the doctor even though all he did was something for himself and didn't hurt anyone else. * Speaking of singing, I loved the episodes when Seven of Nine and the Doctor sing. Personally I wish they could have explored this more but I believe Jeri Ryan, the actress, had a lot of stress on the show due to other actors. With that said, I just wished there could have been more singing involved since she has a wonderful singing talent. * Overall the show has some great potential. Comparing to the other Star Trek before, I would say inconsistencies are expected and as such the entire show isn't that bad to watch. I am very pleased with the show. I enjoyed it alot and highly recommend it to anyone out there.

Big fan of the show when it was on. Great price for the complete series- no brainer really! Quick delivery also- no complaints here!
