Bartoline Paint Predator™ Fast Action Paint & Varnish Stripper 1l – Rapid, Non-Caustic Paint Remover for Wood, Metal & Masonry

This stuff has worked great for me. I’m currently stripping the original finish from a maybe 50/60 year old piece of wooden furniture. I cleaned with sugar soap and dried, before applying a thick coat of the stripper, leaving it on for just 30 minutes. I then used a scraper to scrape away the layers of paint (very satisfying!) before going in with a kitchen nylon brush to buff out the areas my scraper missed, and then used water and sugar soap to wipe off the excess. I’ve another piece of furniture like this, and used a different brand which was ridiculously messy and of poor quality. This type of job is always going to be a bit messy regardless, but provided you have the right tools, it works a treat! I was expecting to have to do another coat, so it’s a bit patchy as I had that in mind, but the remainder will come out during sanding. Before and after pic when it was still wet attached (just did the top for now, didn’t get a good before pic of the top, but it’s the same colour as the rest of the unit). I have used maybe 1/4 of the bottle on the top. Will defo buy again!

Amazing product. I painted it on and 30 mins later everything came off with minimal effort. Brilliant stuff.

I liked how quickly it was working to dissolve the varnish, but I found it to sticky to remove, it was like Evo stick

It didn't work for me. I put it twice. First time, for 30 minutes and the second time for one hour to remove the varnish from a wooden bedside table. In the end, it made a huge mess and just removed 30% of the paint. I don't think it is worth using it for the hassle it takes to clean up.

not fast acting but does the job.

Worked really well, leave on, bubbles up, scrap off. Done it a few times, because the paint was several layers, stripped back to the wood.

Used two bottles ended up left recommended time,. Paint barely moved. Left longer still barrely moved paint. The little that lifted went sticky. And was really difficult to remove. I eventually scrubbed with soapy water. And again could not remove the stickiness. Used jet wash to remove a lot. But I think I will need a solvent such as alcohol to remove stickiness

Really good stripper. Hardly any odour off it. It’s a thick gloopy liquid and really easy to apply, doesn’t easily drip . It’s a very effective treatment.
