I made a much longer review about the Ultimate editions of the Harry Potter films in the review I posted for the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Ultimate Edition) [Blu-ray ] so I am just going to go over the highlights concerning this specific film in this review. The HD video and sound are excellent in this version of the film on blu-ray, just like they were for the other Ultimate Edition release. Yes, they are double dipping on this release (which is one of the reasons I think the price is relatively low), but I think it is worth it considering the fact that we are getting the extended edition of the film in blu-ray HD, plus an hour's long documentary with never before seen behind the scenes stuff as well. The blu-ray disc contains both the theatrical release, and the new extended version with cut scenes put back in. This film has 13 minutes of extra footage (most never seen before). The extra footage makes a *LOT* of scenes make more sense with those scenes back in! For instance, one of the new scenes shows Harry meeting Hagrid on the stairs on his way up to his dormitory. Hagrid is holding the dead chickens which were being killed in the book. Minutes later Harry stumbled upon the Hufflepuff boy who has been petrified by the basilisk. Minutes after that, as Harry is in Dumbledore's office explaining himself, Hagrid bursts in saying he knows it couldn't have been Harry, and that he would be willing to swear so to the Ministry of magic. With the extra scene back in showing Harry and Hagrid meeting on the stairs, it suddenly becomes clear how a.) Hagrid got there so fast, b.) how Hagrid knew Harry was in trouble, c.) that Hagrid was so SURE Harry was innocent. You will encounter scenes that expand your understanding of the films like that all over the extended edition. As for the extras, the blu-ray special features disc is the reason to buy this set. Specifically, for the hour long documentary included in each ultimate edition containing all of the behind-the-scenes stuff I have been wanting to see for such a long time now! They also do in depth interviews, and show stuff we have never seen before. I LOVED watching all of the green screening stuff they showed concerning Quidditch, the flying car, etc. I love the set, I love the price, I love the quality of the films in high definition blu-ray, and I love the extras. 5 stars, for this edition, no question.

This movie is great for families and very entertaining. It may be scary for little kids but perfect for kids ages 8+.

These box sets are extremely nice; at almost 7-3/4 inches (194mm) tall, 5-3/4 inches (145mm) deep and just over 2 inches (52mm) wide, make sure you have enough room on your shelf to display these (remember, there's going to be eight of these sets). The box itself has to be the best design of a blu-ray package I have seen yet, it is constructed of very heavy laminated cardstock with a magnetic catch to hold it shut and has a thin cardstock sleeve to protect it. The two blu-rays and one dvd are stored in a folding plastic and cardstock case that is kept inside the box. The film itself is beautifully remastered so the stunning scenery and impressive special effects truly come to life. If you are a true Harry Potter fan, then this Ultimate Edition is a must own especially on blu-ray. The contents include: A blu-ray disc with the theatrical version and the extended version with 19 deleted scenes of over 12 and a half minutes worth of film and the "In-movie experience" (picture in picture commentary with behind the scenes footage for the theatrical version only). Following the well-deserved success of the 2001 film "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", director Chris Columbus returned in 2002 with the impressive sequel, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Based upon the children's books written by acclaimed author J.K. Rowlings, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is a much darker tale than its predecessor. As the famous Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) prepares to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for his second year, he is saddened by not having heard all summer from his good friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). One night, while his Uncle Vernon Dursley (Richard Griffiths), his Aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw) and his cousin Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) are preparing to entertain important guests, Harry gets an unexpected and unruly visitor: Dobby the House Elf (voice by Toby Jones). Dobby warns Harry not to return to Hogwarts this year because he would be in serious danger, but Harry refuses to heed Dobby's warning. In addition to Mrs. Weasley (Julie Waters) is her husband Arthur Weasley (Mark Williams) and their young daughter Virginia 'Ginny' Weasley (Bonnie Wright), who is going to Hogwarts as a first-year student. Draco's father Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) is also introduced and illustrates where Draco got his attitude. Also introduced at Hogwarts is another of its many ghosts, Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson) and a past student named Tom Marvolo Riddle (Christian Coulson). It was very sad when long-time actor Richard Harris passed away shortly before the theatrical release of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". He was twice nominated for Best Actor by the Academy Awards for his work in the 1963 film "This Sporting Life" and the 1990 film "The Field". He was well known for his work in the 1967 musical "Camelot", in which he played King Arthur, as well as his leading roles in the films "A Man Called Horse" (1970), "Cromwell" (1970), "Gladiator" (2000) and, of course, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001). Though Michael Gambon will play the character of Albus Dumbledore in future Harry Potter films, Richard Harris' contributions to these plus his other film roles will never be forgotten. Thank you Richard Harris. Memorable scenes in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" include the flying cake, the flying car scenes, the chimney, the bookstore, the whomping willow, the spiders, Moaning Myrtle, the transformation spell, Professor Dumbledore's office, the challenge with Draco, the chamber, and the final scenes. Overall, I rate "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" with a resounding 5 out of 5 stars. It's a wonderful film that I highly recommend to everyone.

Bei den ersten beiden Harry Potter Verfilmungen handelt es sich um schöne und selbst für ältere Zuschauer durchaus unterhaltsame Kinderfilme, die auch von Fans der Bücher als gelungen angesehen werden. Ich möchte hier aber nicht näher auf den Inhalt des Filmes eingehen, was an anderer Stelle schon oft genug geschehen ist, sondern beziehe mich nur auf den Inhalt der Ultimate Edition. Einen faden Beigeschmack hat die Veröffentlichungspolitik von Warner allerdings schon. Wenn man sich das Zusatzmaterial ansieht, welches in diesem Paket in so großer Menge enthalten ist, fragt man sich unweigerlich, warum es erst so spät veröffentlicht wird. Wiederum muss man sich fragen, ob diese Ultimate-Fassungen auch wirklich die ultimativen Fassungen sind, und ob Warner nicht nach Veröffentlichung der letzten Ultimate-Editions der Filme doch noch eine Super-Duper-Edition mit noch mehr Schnick-Schnack auf den Markt wirft. Trotzdem haben diese Boxen ein großes Kaufargument, nämlich die verlängerte Version des Filmes. (12 Minuten zusätzliche Szenen; 2 Minuten aus der Kinofassung herausgeschnittene, "brutalere" Szenen) Rein äußerlich macht die Verpackung einiges her. Die Größe entspricht in etwa der eines durchschnittlichen Harry Potter Bandes in der Taschenbuch-Ausgabe. Hinter der Verpackung befindet sich ein stabiler Schuber in rot-schwarzer Farbe, der außen wie innen mit Filmszenen bedruckt ist und in dem sich 3 Umschläge befinden. Im ersten Umschlag sind die Sammelkarten von Severus Snape und Rubeus Hagrid, eine Animationskarte, die den Basillisken beim Herankommen zeigt, und der Code zum Herunterladen einer Digital-Copy des Filmes. Der zweite Umschlag ist ein Digipack, in dem sich die zwei Blu-Rays und die Bonus-DVD befinden, während der dritte Umschlag ein Bilderband ist, der sich, wie auch die zweite Blu-Ray, mit den Charakteren des Filmes befasst und Fotos, Konzeptzeichnungen und Bilder aus den ersten 6 Filmen zeigt. Das Zusatzmaterial ist qualitativ hochwertig und man bekommt für den kleineren Aufpreis auch mehr für sein Geld, als nur eine Verpackung und die Disc. Bei den Discs selbst sieht es ähnlich aus. So bekommt man neben dem Orginalschnitt des Filmes, der mit der "In-Movie Experience" aufwartet, auch das Herzstück dieser Fassung geboten, nämlich die um die Deleted Scenes erweiterte Extended Fassung des Filmes. Leider wurden diese Szenen nicht perfekt in den Film integriert, sondern fallen, wenn man sich darauf konzentriert, beim Anschauen durch etwas schlechtere Bild- und Tonqualität auf, was aber nicht störend ist, solange man es nicht unbedingt störend finden will. Die zusätzlichen Szenen bereichern den Film aber ungemein und lassen die Handlung, aufgrund zusätzliche Erklärungen, runder wirken. Daneben befinden sich auf Blu-Ray 1 noch einige Specials wie Fotogalerien oder die Picture-in-Picture-Funktion. Blu-Ray 2 enthält einen von insgesamt acht Teilen der Serie "Die Entstehung von Harry Potters Welt", wobei sich hier, wie bereits erwähnt, den Charakteren gewidmet wird. Man bekommt wieder interessante Einblicke hinter die Kulissen, wie sich zum Beispiel die Schauspieler auf ihre Rollen vorbereitet haben, oder die Probeaufnahmen einiger Szenen. Daneben bietet die Disc anderes Material wie Trailer oder die HBO TV-Sendung "Die Kammer des Schreckens wurde geöffnet". DVD 3 wirkt allerdings etwas fehl am Platz - nicht wegen ihrem Inhalt, sondern weil sie nur über die schlechtere Bild- und Tonqualität dieses Mediums verfügt - obwohl sie ebenfalls interessante Dinge, wie die Unterhaltung von J.K. Rowling und Steve Kloves, enthält. Ob es wirklich so teuer gewesen wäre, dieses Zusatzmaterial angemessen in das neue Format umzusetzen? Das Bild selbst ist messerscharf und profitiert dabei von der hellen und bunten Atmosphäre des Filmes, bei der es richtig Spaß macht, die detailverliebten Kulissen in HD-Qualität zu betrachten. Im Gegensatz zum grobkörnigen Bild der DVD ein wahrer Augenschmauß! Der Ton liegt mit Dolby Digital 5.1EX in der normalen, und Dolby Digital 5.1 in der erweiterten Fassung (bei Deutscher Tonspur) ebenfalls in guter Qualität vor. Als Fazit sei gesagt, dass potentielle Käufer erst über die Anschaffung dieser gelungenen Box nachdenken sollten. Wer eine ultimative Box kaufen will, sollte lieber noch abwarten, bis wirklich alle Ultimate Editions veröffentlicht wurden und dann bei einem Gesamtpaket zuschlagen. Für Leute, die es auf die Extended Fassung abgesehen haben - ich glaube nicht, dass nochmal neue Szenen nachgedreht oder verschollene Szenen gefunden werden - und für die, welche jetzt schon von DVD auf Blu-Ray umsteigen wollen, ist diese Version aber uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert.
