Samsonite Omni PC Hardside Expandable Luggage with Spinner Wheels, Silver, Checked-Large 28-Inch

purchased this suitcase in August 2017 and have been using it ever since. It has held up very well over the years with no major issues. The only part I had to replace was the TSA lock, but everything else is still working great. The wheels roll smoothly, the handle is sturdy, and I'm still very satisfied with this suitcase.

Okay, I’m retired now & do a bit of traveling with girlfriends. Since I travelled a lot during my software career I wanted to get rid of the set of luggage I had when I worked. Had always purchased Samsonite sets so thought I would start there. Decided hard back & glad I did. Selected the Caribbean Blue because one thing you learn when you fly a great deal is the more boring your luggage the greater the likelihood that it will get stolen. Nobody is going to steal this bright blue suitcase & run through the airport with it. It’s too easy to spot. And oh, you can pick your luggage out on the arrival carousel quickly. The blue color is not a loud, brash blue. It’s a fun, I’m on vacation, blue. Originally, I bought only the carryon just to test out the hard surface feature. It’s lightweight & is so easy to maneuver, especially if you have a couple pieces. The only thing I wish was different. They don’t have separate compartments to keep your items organized. There’s only one long zippered compartment on the fold of the suitcase. And there’s a sneaky compartment too. On the inside on the side that has the handle you will see a long zipper. I roll up my jeans & put them between the handles which gives you more room AND it helps to keep your clothes flat. Otherwise the handle bars will crease your clothes. Buy some additional toiletry bags or if you have some from other luggage sets, use them. My older Samsonite luggage had extra bags, etc & I just use them. So, yes I purchased the 24” as well. Heads-up….Amazon sells the luggage straps that you can use with this set. Say, 10 dollars for 2. Literally you can attach the handle of the smaller luggage to the extended handle of the larger bag, put your tote bag on top of the larger bags, wrapping the handles around the extended handle & use one hand to pull all your luggage so you can enjoy a cup of coffee in your other hand. Once you attach it a couple times you can do it pretty quickly, in the middle of the night, in the dark. It’s very smooth, especially in busy airports. It’s just ingenious. So, if you see someone in an airport with Caribbean Blue luggage strapped together like I’m the boss, be sure to stop me & say hello.

I recently picked up a travel suitcase from Samsonite, and I’ve got to say—it’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made for traveling. The quality is top-tier: sturdy, smooth-rolling wheels, and plenty of space without feeling bulky. You can tell it’s built to last. What really surprised me was the price. It was actually better than anything I found at my local stores, which made the deal even sweeter. Getting that level of durability and style without overpaying is a huge win. Overall, I’m more than happy with it and feel totally ready for my trip. If you’re in the market for reliable luggage, this is definitely the way to go.

I bought the three pice set in Caribbean Blue and love this set. The color is so easy to spot in baggage claim. My big complaint is the size of the large checked luggage piece. Yes, it holds a lot (think traveling to Iceland and Greenland and having to pack two weeks of winter clothes and coats and hiking boots). However it exceeds the airline dimensions and with airlines getting increasingly picky about size it’s not worth me possibly having to pay $200 for oversized luggage - and again on my return flight. I’m selling my luggage and will get one within the airlines dimensions (including handles and wheels).

We took these cases on a 3 week trip to Iceland, Norway, Scotland and England. They worked great. Purchased two colors. Silver and purple. Good value for the cost. Held up great. The silver ones did get a few marks from the airport. The purple did not as they are darker. Size was perfect.

I've had this Samsonite Omni PC 3-piece luggage set for 5 years, and it's still going strong. The spinner wheels roll smoothly, the handles work perfectly, and the hard shell has held up remarkably well despite plenty of trips. There are some expected scuffs from baggage handling, but nothing that affects performance.

These locks are like little bouncers for my belongings, ensuring that my valuables stay safe and sound without any hassle at security. The locks also make me feel like a secret agent every time I pop them open, ready to reveal my perfectly packed wardrobe to the world (or just to the TSA agent). The interiors of these cases are equally impressive. Spacious and organized, with enough room to fit all my travel essentials and then some. And let’s not forget the little compartments that make me feel super organized (even if it’s just an illusion). In conclusion, this Samsonite luggage set has transformed my travel game. They’re stylish, practical, and give me an extra spring in my step as I navigate through airports. If you want to travel in style and make your luggage part of the vacation vibes, do yourself a favor and get this set. Let me start by saying I am a longtime Samsonite fan. All of my luggage has been Samsonite. I travel a-l-o-t for work and have loved the Samsonite brand for durability and travel smarts. Well, so far, this luggage set seems to be pretty durable but as far as the travel smarts... they missed the mark when it comes to the wheels. Let's start with the Good. I went with hard-sided this time as these are the polycarbonate which hold up far better to the grind of being thrown around by luggage handlers at the airports. From all of my reading, the non-polycarbonate type just don't hold up to that. Not to mention, much of my type of travel (I work in the film industry) is in and out of cars, along side my kit and other gear being loaded in and out... so lots of tossing and banging around. And they have held up like a champ so far (about a year of ownership so far & many, many trips since). Since they are hard sided, they lack the various external pockets that their non-hard sided counterparts have, but that is par for the course and is a trade-off for the durability. They do have a much better clothing strap system inside than my previous Samsonite luggage. It really seems to hold everything in place far better and snug. In addition, on the one side has that typical zippered net closure as well. All three pieces have the expandability zippers and surprisingly (for this consummate overpacker), I don't need to utilize them much... nice to have though. One sort of wonky thing for me is, that they have an integrated TSA compatible lock that the zippers connect into, with a combination you can set. It's wonky because I have a difficult time with it. Maybe it's because of the length of my nails as I keep them fairly long, I have no idea. And it's not that I can't use it, I just seem to fight with it, especially the combination dials. Some may not have issues with it... might just be me. My biggest issue is the wheels... they just stink. I mean, horrible. The only ones that are somewhat okay, are on the biggest suitcase, but even that.. they just don't wheel great. Especially on any sort of carpet or textured surface... which is well, many surfaces you are rolling it on. And when you get any sort of bump... like a transition at a doorway, forget it... they just won't go over it. And the smaller suitcases? Ugh... just awful for wheeling. Most people like to or Need to attach some other bag to the handle of their main suitcase. Whether that be a toiletry bag, a computer bag a backpack or something else.... I haven't found one that doesn't want to dump the suitcase over. And trying to roll them, with something on top, attached to handle is like pushing it through quicksand. The concept that these are supposed to be spinner wheels is completely lost. You are constantly fighting it! I literally give up and use them all like an old school suitcase that only has two wheels! Which defeats the purpose of buying a suitcase set with spinner wheels. And the smaller the suitcase, the worse it gets. The largest suitcase, when it's full... it's very difficult for me to use in a non-upright position as it's heavy. It's easier to roll as it has more weight to it (when full), but it's still difficult. Samsonite definitely missed the mark with these wheels. It's sad as it's the first luggage set I've not really been happy with. I'm just fortunate that most of my travel is by car and I usually have a cart with me for my mobile office so it's not as important. If I was traveling more by plane... I'd really be annoyed and probably would have returned it. The wheels are just horrible. So if you are traveling a lot where the wheels on the suitcase are expressly important.. make sure you test these out sufficiently or just try something else, as much as this Samsonite fan is pained to say that.

Solid case went to Africa with it and it took all the bumps and gave great protection to the ornaments I brought back

I had my previous Samsonite for about 15 years before one of the airlines trashed it, was so happy with quality and durability that I wanted another Samsonite. Although a somewhat boring black colour, this is excellent quality and at a great price point. Very happy with this replacement for an old favourite
